Ajith’s film with H Vinoth falls well short of Rs 100 crores

Directed by H Vinoth, ‘Thunivu’ starring Ajith, Manju Warrier, and Samuthirakani was released for the occasion on Jan 11 and the film dominated the box office on the opening day. Opened with positive reviews, ‘Thunivu’ received average occupancy on day 2, but the film recovered on day 3 on Friday. Ajith’s film with H Vinoth falls short of Rs 100 crores at the end of day 3. The ‘Thunivu’ box office collection stands at around Rs 46 crores in Tamil Nadu, and the film’s domestic collection is estimated to be around Rs 65 to 70 crores. The overseas collection of the film made it add more numbers, but the film falls well short of Rs 100 crores.
‘Thunivu’ has reportedly earned Rs 93 crores approximately at the worldwide box office at the end of day 3, and the action drama is heading strongly with solid bookings for the weekend. After conquering Vijay’s ‘Varisu’ on the opening day in Tamil Nadu, Ajith’s film failed to dominate at the box office as the former’s family drama gained an upper hand in the box office race.

The action drama ‘Thunivu’ is set in a bank backdrop and the film sends a message about scams happening in the bank sector. H Vinoth’s third film with Ajith is a more successful one than their previous outing, and the lead actor opted to do a negative role to impress fans. Ghibran’s first-ever music for Ajith worked well, while Manju Warrier, Samuthirakani, and Mohana Sundaram look apt in their roles.
