‘Chhaava’ box office day 28: Vicky Kaushal starrer misses Rs550 crore mark at end of week 4 |


Vicky Kaushal’s ‘Chhaava,’ the historical drama that kept the Bollywood abuzz with its box office success from day 1, is gradually slowing down. The movie has completed a month of theatrical run and with the collection of around Rs 4.35 Cr (Hindi: Rs 3.5 Cr; Telugu: Rs 0.85 Cr) on day 28, it’s week 4’s earnings stand at Rs 56.9 Cr (Hindi: Rs 44.9 Cr; Telugu: Rs.12 Cr], according to the Sacnilk report. This brings the movie’s total after 4-week run to Rs 540.45 Cr (Hindi: Rs. 528.45 Cr; Telugu: Rs 12 Cr).
Directed by Laxman Utekar, the movie broke various box office records with its collection. The first two weeks of the movie that show the tale of Maratha courage were very impressive. The debut week saw a collection of Rs.219.25 Cr and the second week witnessed a business of Rs.180.25 Cr. From the third week onwards, the dip was visible, but the significant drop came in week 4. Though on Women’s Day, which was the film’s 4th Saturday, the growth was more than 90 percent, as the movie collected Rs.16.75 crores from its Hindi and Telugu release;.The following weekdays couldn’t maintain the same charm. Yet, there is hope from the Holi festivity and the weekend following the festival.

Based on the novel with the same name, ‘Chhaava’ highlights the life of Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj, the son of the first Maratha ruler, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. Chhaava aka Sambhaji Maharaj carried forward the legacy of Swaraj given by his father. Though in the end Chhaava gets captured by the Mughal emperor Aurangzeb, but his torture fails to break the Maratha warrior.
