‘Manifestation’ is the model’s anthem, considering that she not only dated but married her childhood crush. The duo had an on-and-off relationship before they announced their engagement. While they weren’t dating ‘officially’, he was spotted with his bygone companions, one of them being his past amour, Selena Gomez. The Biebers avoided an obvious public eye, yet the fans accurately guessed the love in the air. With the sudden turn of events, the ‘Yummy’ singer’s intermittent girlfriend became the Mrs. in September 2018 at the Courthouse, New York City.
How it all started…
The duo met in November 2009, when Hailey’s father, Stephen Baldwin introduced them – ended up being a quite brief handshake. However, one might get a few chuckles when they realise that the supermodel posted “I don’t care what anyone says but Justin Bieber and Selena Gomez together is the definition of a teenage dream! #word,” on Twitter in September 2011.
Bieber had a turbulent relationship with Gomez and after they broke up, he was spotted with Kendall Jenner. While the rumours of Kendall and Justin being an item persisted, Hailey earned a soft spot in his heart. She shrugged off the rumours of being together, stating that they’ve known each other since they were teenagers and he is just a ‘good friend’. After a certain influence on each other, they rubbed off on each other and the aforementioned cutesy relationship prevailed from February 2016, only to end in August 2016, when they allegedly unfollowed each other on Instagram.
Oh, the unfollowing might sound similar to the current events, however, the couple reconciled after ‘Jelena’ ended in 2017 – quite miserably, and the rumours of their engagement started speculating in the town. Till the New Year of 2018, the official names were changed on social media, acquiring the martial surname, and posts were made of them as ‘husband and wife’.
Even after years of being married, the ‘Jelena’ fans are upset over the sudden heartbreaks. A few weeks after their announcement, Selena dropped the track ‘Lose You To Love Me’, allegedly referring to her relationship with Justin. In August 2024, the couple shared a picture of their baby’s foot, announcing the arrival of the adorable family member and his name, captioning it ‘WELCOME HOME JACK BLUES BIEBER 🐻’
In December, however, he reportedly shared a video on Instagram expressing that co-parenting is tough, fueling rumors of distress in the Bieber house. Additionally, during the weekend of the Grammy Award Ceremony, he was spotted alone in New York City in a disturbed state. He reportedly spent some alone time, but the fans noticed the dark circles around his eyes and a ‘hollow’ look.
