Junaid Khan, Khushi Kapoor starrer ‘Loveyapa’ has now hit the screens. This is the theatrical debut of both the actors after they made their OTT debut with ‘Maharaj’ and ‘The Archies’ respectively. This one is a romantic comedy, releasing on the occasion of Valentine’s week which will add to the film’s appeal. However, the advance sales have been quite dull and the film shall largely depend on word of mouth.
The makers have kept several screenings of the movie and there’s been enough buzz around it with celebrities pouring their wishes for the newcomers. But as of now, the movie has managed to sell around 5,000 tickets in the top three national chains – PVR Inox and Cinepolis – for the opening day, according to Pinkvilla. Out of this, the major tickets were sold at PVR Inox. This is quite a dull start to the film and it will largely depend on walk-ins on the opening day and over the weekend. The first weekend number and footfalls will largly depend on word of mouth.
Meanwhile, it’s facing a tough competition from ‘Thandel’ starring Naga Chaitanya, Sai Pallavi, which is expected to have an opening of
Rs 70 crore worldwide. The film has released in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Another film giving a tough compeititon to ‘Loveyapa’ is Himesh Reshammiya’s ‘Badass Ravi Kumar’, which has managed to rake in an excellent advance sales for day 1. It’s quite obvious that ‘Loveyapa’ may cater to the Gen Z audience and multiplexes. However, ‘Badass Ravi Kumar’ is made for the masses and will largely be welcomed by the single screens and two-tier, three-tier cities which largely counts.
