Avengers: The Kang Dynasty writer hints that Namor is the first member of the new Marvel Cinematic Universe team. With Phase 5 now underway, the MCU is slowly getting closer to the next two Avengers movies. As announced at San Diego Comic-Con 2022, Marvel Studios have two films lined up in Phase 6 that will be instrumental for the Multiverse Saga. One of them is Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, which will feature the titular MCU villain. Played by Jonathan Majors, Kang was recently featured in Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, as Scott Lang was the last MCU player to face him.
With the 2025 film being the first major Avengers movie since Avengers: Endgame, many are wondering who will be part of this line-up of the team. It seems one of them has been confirmed based on recent comments by Jeff Loveness. In a recent interview with Comicbook.com, Loveness, who penned Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, talked about his future with the MCU. While talking about what’s next, Loveness, who is also writing Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, name-dropped Namor as someone he is excited to write for in the MCU.
Namor, man. I’m excited to write Namor.
Everything We Know About Avengers 5
While Loveness is writing the script for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty, it will be directed by a returning MCU director. After helming Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, Destin Daniel Cretton is coming back to the franchise to direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. Based on Avengers: Secret Wars having tapped a different writer, it seems fair to assume that Cretton will only direct Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. But time will tell who will actually land the Avengers: Secret Wars gig.
Currently, Avengers: The Kang Dynasty is one of two Phase 6 films that will arrive in 2025. It will follow Fantastic Four, which arrives in February of that year and will likely be the final setup for Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. While it remains to be seen who else will be part of the team in this installment, it’s highly likely that most of the heroes that were set up in Phase 4 will come into play. If Namor is indeed boarding the league, it will be intriguing to see how he comes into contact with the Avengers after Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
Given his strong reception in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, it shouldn’t come as a shock that Namor will be part of the Avengers. How he engages with other characters will be a lot of fun, especially since fans have only gotten to see him interact with the Black Panther characters so far. As Phase 5 goes further, more details will hopefully begin to emerge about Avengers: The Kang Dynasty throughout the year.
