A new concept poster reimagines Chris Hemsworth as He-Man in a live-action Masters of the Universe movie, capturing the vibrant spirit of the 1980s cartoon superhero. The beloved Mattel franchise follows He-Man, the heroic alter ego of Prince Adam, as he protects the mystical land of Eternia from his archnemesis Skeletor. The upcoming live-action Masters of the Universe is set to bring the sword-and-sorcery world to life with Nicholas Galitzine (Bottoms, Idea of You) as the heroic He-Man alongside Jared Leto, Alison Brie, Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, and Sam C. Wilson.
Now, digital artist Jim Harris has shared a movie poster he designed on Instagram, displaying Chris Hemsworth as He-Man in a conceptual live-action remake of Masters of the Universe. Harris cited inspiration from a recent fan-made trailer by KH Studio that imagines a potential He-Man film. Through a faithful homage to the colorful style and epic tone of the original series, Harris described Hemsworth as a “perfect fit” for the role, as the Thor star masterfully represents the character’s larger-than-life persona and superhuman strength.
What Chris Hemsworth As He-Man Means
A Thunderous Vision For Eternia’s Defender
Hemsworth has long been a fan-favorite choice for a He-Man live-action remake. The actor’s established persona as a commanding action star, most notably as the MCU’s Thor, makes him a natural choice for the mighty Prince Adam. In 2012, the original 1987 He-Man star, Dolph Lundgren, gave the actor his approval to play the iconic character. To the dismay of fans, Hemsworth turned down the superhero role because of its similarities to Thor. Hemsworth has since made a more villainous turn as the debauched warlord in Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.

Although Hemsworth is not involved in the upcoming live-action remake, the fan casting demonstrates the widespread anticipation for the upcoming Master of the Universe project. The best-selling toy line and cartoon series spawned a sprawling media franchise with action-packed comic books, video games, Lundgren’s feature film—a notorious flop—and a well-received Netflix animated series. With Galitzine officially cast as He-Man, it will be fascinating to see how the upcoming reboot will balance its commitment to the source material with fresh, innovative storytelling.
Our Take On Chris Hemsworth As He-Man
The Superhero Dream That Could’ve Been
Hemsworth as He-Man feels like a casting opportunity that could have brought incredible star power and gravitas to the Masters of the Universe franchise. His history of action-packed roles, combined with his charm and humor, aligns perfectly with what fans expect from Prince Adam’s alter ego. While his decision to sidestep the superhero is understandable, the idea of Hemsworth battling Skeletor on the big screen will forever remain a tantalizing “what if.” While Hemsworth may not wield the Power Sword, the potential for this beloved series to return in epic fashion is still something to look forward to.
