The Honor Among Thieves Reactions Are The Best Sign Yet For The D&D Movie

Anticipation has been generally positive for Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves in the lead up to the film’s release, with the consensus being that it’s a humorous adaptation of the game going for a similar tone to that of Thor: Ragnarok. While there were some concerns regarding how it would be adapting Dungeons & Dragons lore, Goldstein and Daley have largely assured that they’re staying true to the source material while only making some tweaks as they subscribe to the rule of cool in order to deliver the most entertaining story possible.

The Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves reactions point towards the movie largely living up to the directing duo’s promises, with critics largely directing the praise towards its overabundance of jokes that work. The other consistent positive seen in the reactions are that the film is accessible for both longtime fans of the tabletop game, as well as those who have never played a session. With critics also taking to praising the film’s action set pieces, it’s comforting to know the Spider-Man: Homecoming duo haven’t lost their touch for blending the two genres.

While the Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves reactions are largely positive, there are a handful that indicate the characters themselves are a little thinly written. With as large of an ensemble cast as it has, it seemed inevitable some characters would get more attention paid to them than others. Though with a Dungeons & Dragons spinoff show in the works and Daley and Goldstein teasing ideas for a sequel, one can hope the underutilized characters get to shine even further in the future.
