Jamie Dornan becomes James Gunn’s Bruce Wayne, a.k.a. Batman, in The Brave and The Bold fan-made trailer. A new DC Universe is on its way. In late January of this year, Gunn and Peter Safran revealed the first half of what they are calling Chapter 1. Titled “Gods and Monsters,” several movies and TV shows that will interconnect were revealed to the world. One of them is the upcoming Batman reboot, titled The Brave and The Bold. With the Caped Crusader getting reimagined once again for the big screen, fans are already speculating who will don the iconic cape and cowl.

SCREENRANT VIDEO OF THE DAY

As the DC movies and TV slate were only revealed last month, The Brave and The Bold are at least a few years away from hitting theaters. While announced a few weeks ago, DC Studios never revealed a targeted release date for the Batman reboot.

Screen Culture recently released a new fan-made trailer for The Brave and The Bold, where they imagined Dornan as the latest live-action Batman. The Umbrella Academy star Aidan Gallagher is also part of the trailer as he gets fan-cast as Robin, a.k.a. Damian Wayne. The Netflix star has been fan-cast numerous times as the fourth version of the Boy Wonder.

How James Gunn’s Batman Will Be Different From Past Live-Action Versions

While Ben Affleck nor Robert Pattinson will be playing Batman in the DC Universe, Gunn’s version is already finding ways to stand out from past live-action incarnations. Over the last few decades, pretty much every Batman franchise has had Bruce Wayne be a solo hero. Looking outside Batman Forever and Batman & Robin, the idea of sidekicks or a larger Bat-Family has been left outside past continuities. In the DCEU, Affleck’s Batman had a Robin at one point before he was murdered by The Joker.

But with Gunn’s DC Universe, they are setting up the idea of Bruce discovering the existence of his biological son, Damian Wayne. Not only is it Damian’s first time being featured in a live-action project, but it indicates that other allies have come along the way. Gunn and Safran talked about how the Bat-Family will be depicted throughout The Brave and The Bold, which may suggest that iconic players will pop up. Whether they are Dick Grayson, Jason Todd, or Barbara Gordon, this helps the DC Universe set itself apart from other Batman versions.

Since it will be at least a few years before The Brave and The Bold, time will tell when they will actually have cast someone as the new Batman. Gunn has hinted that there will be some major casting announcements this year, but whether or not Batman is part of that or not remains to be seen. But hopefully, as DC Studios get rolling with the new DC Universe, The Brave and The Bold will find its leading hero sooner rather than later.
