Jenna Ortega’s Polarizing New Thriller Debuts To Drastically Different Critics & Audience Scores On Rotten Tomatoes

Jenna Ortega’s Polarizing New Thriller Debuts To Drastically Different Critics & Audience Scores On Rotten Tomatoes

Jenna Ortega has been in the film and TV industry since she was a young child, but her career has taken off in the last few years. On the TV side, this was through her starring role in the Netflix Addams Family series Wednesday, which debuted in 2022 and is getting season 2 later this year. On the film side, a significant part of her career has been spent acting in horror films, as Scream, Scream VI, and X have solidified her scream queen status.

Ortega has acted in her fair share of non-horror dramas over the years. She delivered a stirring performance as a high school student living through the aftermath of a tragic event in The Fallout. She was also in the movie Miller’s Girl, which made waves (many negative) upon its release due to the portrayal of an age-gap relationship. Movies like these help show off Ortega’s depth as an actor, even if they are not always well-received. Now, the Rotten Tomatoes score is in for her latest drama thriller.

The Rotten Tomatoes Score For Hurry Up Tomorrow Is Here

It’s Dividing Critics And Audiences

Hurry Up Tomorrow‘s Rotten Tomatoes score has been revealed, and it sets a new record for Ortega. Also starring the musical artist The Weeknd, or his real name Abel Tesfaye, the movie is a fictionalized fantasy telling of his musical career. An insomniac musician named Abel (Tesfaye) meets a stranger named Anima (Ortega) who sets a series of events into motion. The film is directed by Trey Edward Shults, and the cast also includes Barry Keoghan, Riley Keough, Paul L. Davis, and Sebastian Villalobos.

The Wednesday star is well known for playing the popular Addams Family character, but the best Jenna Ortega movies and TV shows cover many genres.

Now, the Rotten Tomatoes score for Hurry Up Tomorrow has been revealed. At the time of writing, the movie has a 16% on Rotten Tomatoes with 37 reviews thus far. This is fairly different from the movie’s audience score, which stands at 75%. These scores are subject to change, as the movie has just been released in theaters. Nevertheless, the scores indicate that the new release is very polarizing, although audiences seem to respond to the movie better than Tesfaye’s HBO series, The Idol.

What This Means For Jenna Ortega

This Sets A Career Low

Hurry Up Tomorrow has officially set a new career record for Ortega, becoming the lowest-rated movie of her career. While she has had other scores be “rotten” before, her next lowest movie, Finestkind, has a 28%. This has also created a negative trend for Ortega in 2025. Her previous release this year, Death of a Unicorn, got a 54% Tomatometer, which, while much better than Hurry Up Tomorrow, is still considered rotten. While this isn’t a trend that’s desirable for Ortega’s career, hopefully, that will be amended once Wednesday season 2 comes out on Netflix later this year.
