Mel Gibson explained why Lethal Weapon 5 is taking so long to get made, even though he believes the script could be the best of the entire series.
In an interview with Screen Rant’s own Joe Deckelmeier at Fan Expo Philadelphia, Gibson claimed that he believes the script for Lethal Weapon 5 is really good. However, despite his confidence in the project, he admitted that the studios are having a lot of problems with the film, which is the main reason why it is still stuck in development hell. I sat down with a writer and we did two or three drafts of screenplays and it came out pretty good. In fact, I think it’s the best of all of them. It’s a lot of fun and got really emotional. And for some reason, the studios are having a lot of problems. I don’t know what the deal is. I’m not sure what the problem is, but it is a really good screenplay.
