A sneak peek at Marvel and DC‘s 2025 movies shows a fresh glimpse at this year’s superheroes. After 2024 came with a drought of theatrical releases in the genre (with only Deadpool & Wolverine in theaters), 2025 will compensate. Marvel Studios’ 2025 slate includes Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts, and The Fantastic Four, while the DCU’s 2025 movie slate is limited to James Gunn’s Superman. In 2025, the MCU’s Phase 5 comes to an end and the DCU’s “Gods and Monsters” chapter begins.
On January 10, 2025, USA Today revealed new images for all major film releases of 2025. Captain America: Brave New World‘s new image shows the titular hero standing in a control room, Thunderbolts*’ image shows Yelena Belova, US Agent, and Ghost standing in a field reacting to something off-screen, and Superman’s latest still shows David Corenswet’s Superman standing in a Metropolis street. The Protagonists Of Marvel And DC’s 2025 Movies Are Ready For The Spotlight
Without a doubt, 2025 is a key year for the MCU and the DCU. Captain America: Brave New World is Anthony Mackie’s first go as a big-screen Captain America, and James Gunn’s Superman marks David Corenswet’s DCU debut. Meanwhile, Thunderbolts* gives a few MCU anti-heroes their time in the spotlight. Marvel is venturing into blockbuster fanfare without Chris Evans’ Captain America, and DC is doing the same without Henry Cavill’s Superman. Fortunately, Mackie and Corenswet seem more than fit for their respective roles.

Marvel And DC Are Saving The Best Of Their 2025 Movies For Theaters
Marvel and DC’s latest images stick to their respective movies’ protagonists. This might be a good sign, as the movies’ biggest reveals are likely to be reserved for their theatrical release. Captain America: Brave New World hasn’t revealed the Leader’s Gamma appearance in any image or trailer, Thunderbolts* hasn’t revealed Sentry’s powered-up look, and Superman hasn’t even confirmed its main villain. The age of spoiler-filled trailers may finally be over.

Marvel Studios will introduce and bring back several MCU villains in 2025’s Phase 5 and 6 projects, comprising multiple movies and Disney+ shows.
The wait for Captain America: Brave New World, Thunderbolts*, and Superman‘s release is getting shorter. As their respective release dates approach, more promotional material will be released, and a few more twists and surprises may be teased. Previously, Spider-Man: No Way Home only began to include Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield’s Spider-Men a week or two after the movie’s release, and Deadpool & Wolverine‘s trailers only included Wolverine’s mask until the movie was almost exiting theaters. For now, Captain America, the Thunderbolts, and Superman’s stills are enough to fuel the Marvel & DC hype at the start of 2025.
