Robert Pattinson Is Hilarious Playing Multiple Roles In This 1 Million Space Comedy That’s Now Streaming

Robert Pattinson has had one of the most exciting careers of any 21st-century actor. He had an early role in Harry Potter before playing the leading vampire of Edward Cullen in Twilight. While the five-part vampire series defined his career from 2008 to 2012, the actor then spent significant time changing his career image. Two years after he finished up the Twilight movies, he acted in A24’s dystopian thriller The Rover. He would further change his image in 2017 when he played the lead role in the Safdie Brothers movie Good Time.

Now, Pattinson is an actor who can easily move through both blockbuster and arthouse projects. His indie clout has allowed him to work with a wide array of interesting directors, including Robert Eggers, with whom he worked on The Lighthouse. His fame has also allowed him to play Bruce Wayne in Batman and a key supporting role in Christopher Nolan’s Tenet, showing his aptitude for high-budget films as well. Pattinson was in a movie earlier this year that has now just been released on streaming.

Mickey 17’s Different Title Cards & Why It Changes 3 Times

Mickey 17, Bong Joon-ho’s sci-fi comedy film starring Robert Pattinson, has three different title cards shown at three distinct times for good reason.

The movie is an adaptation of the novel Mickey7 by Edward Ashton. The sci-fi dark comedy follows a young man named Mickey, who agrees to join an expedition to colonize space. While those going on this intergalactic trip serve many roles in the story, Mickey is an expendable who will go on some of the most intense missions and essentially be used as a test subject, as when he dies, he is cloned and reprinted.

Some Clones Have Different Personalities

Pattinson has the main role in Mickey 17, playing the original human version of Mickey and all his clones. While the majority of the cloned versions are shown in a quick montage reel that flashes through their lives fairly quickly, glimpses of the clones’ different personalities are witnessed. This allows Pattinson to take on a wide array of characters in Mickey 17, showing off his range.

Mickey 17 vs Mickey 18: Which Robert Pattinson Character Is My Favorite

Robert Pattinson gives excellent performances as both Mickey 17 and Mickey 18 in Bong Joon-ho’s new movie, but one of them is better than the other.

Pattinson also puts on a ridiculous voice for the majority of the movie. Though the actor has played quirky characters before, this is by far the most out there in his filmography, at least in terms of vocal inflections and physical acting. While it might be jarringly odd at first, it allows the audience to endear themselves to the various versions of Mickey, really helping the film along. Things kick into gear for the character when one version of him does not pass away despite being left for dead, which allows Pattinson to interact with the story in new ways.

Why You Should Watch Mickey 17

The Movie Has A Great Cast

Mickey 17 may not be the powerhouse that Parasite was, but it is nonetheless good to check out. It is one of the best movies of the year so far, featuring fantastic lead performances. In addition to Pattinson, it is a great opportunity to see several stars at work, including Mark Ruffalo and Toni Collette. It also features performances from actors who are buzzy right now, including Naomi Ackie (who was also in the Sundance hit Sorry, Baby) and Steven Yeun (who is in the Prime Video show Invincible).

In addition to its strong Mickey 17 cast, the movie shines for its use of dark comedy. While Bong’s script is often a little blunt in its presentation of its themes, as villains like Kenneth Marshall are abundantly clear in their intentions, the sci-fi film never fails to be entertaining. The comedic beginnings culminate in an action-packed ending sequence that will leave viewers thrilled. Coupled with a fantastic leading performance from Pattinson, these elements make Mickey 17 a great watch, and one that is not to be missed, especially when it comes to streaming.
