Screen Rant‘s Ash Crossan had positive praise for the movie, enjoying its offbeat joy that was comparable to the cult classic Napoleon Dynamite.
John Dotson, Chris Killian, and Zach Pope were similarly left pleased by the zany, pure dumb fun of the feature.
Chris Gallardo and EJ Moreno heaped praise on the cast, as the former also praised its video game translations.
Cris Parker was similarly pleased by the visual feats, though he stated its script felt somewhat underwhelming.
Jordan Maison stated that the movie was an overwhelmingly hilarious surprise.
However, Jasmine Valentine was less enthusiastic about the feature, stating that Jennifer Coolidge was the sole thing that kept A Minecraft Movie entertaining.
