Doc Season 2 Gets Tentative Filming Window From Star

Doc Season 2 Gets Tentative Filming Window From Star

Doc star details season 2’s filming window as season 1 wraps up with its final episode on March 18. The Fox medical drama, based on the real-life story of Doctor Pierdante Piccioni, follows Dr. Amy Larsen’s (Molly Parker) journey as she’s offered a second chance after major memory loss from a car accident. In February, Fox renewed the show for a second season and announced that it would contain 22 episodes.

In an interview with ScreenRant, Jon Ecker, who plays Dr. Jake Heller in the series, talks about the potential filming window for the upcoming season. While it hasn’t been made official yet, the star shares that he’s under the impression that Doc is expected to return “in the fall,” which puts the production start date “sometime in the summer.” Check out what he said below:

I don’t have an official thing, but I think it’s going to be sometime in the summer. I think the idea is that it would come back in the fall, so [we’ve] got to get started sometime around then.

Doc Season 2 Filming Might Start Very Soon

The first season of Doc was initially scheduled for the 2024-25 season, but due to some delays related to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the production for the series didn’t start until March last year. Doc premiered in January, which marks roughly nine months from its production start date. There’s no official release date for Doc season 2, but based on Ecker’s update, it seems that the show is gearing up for filming.

10 Medical Drama Tropes That Would Never Happen In Real Life

Although medical drama TV shows are known for being overly dramatic, it’s astounding that many of the genre’s tropes are completely unrealistic.

Doc marks the network’s biggest debut in five years and the mystery and personal struggle of Dr. Larsen sparked widespread interest. The new season is expected to further explore womanhood and aging while unveiling even more layers to the mysteries. On the medical side, while the show doesn’t directly deal with COVID-19 as many other medical dramas do, it’ll continue the discussion of what it means to work in healthcare.

Our Take On Doc Season 2

Doc Season 2 Has A Lot Of Potential

With a production date not yet set in stone, Doc season 2 is still in its pre-production phase. Cast and crew interviews about the Doc season 1 finale and what to look forward to indicate that season 2’s storylines are yet to be finalized, but substantial progress has been made, which means the official words on season 2’s production start date could be coming very soon.

It also sounds like there’s a lot to explore in season 2, following the season 1 finale’s cliffhanger ending, including the complicated love triangle situation between the series’ main players. Memory loss has many side effects, and having it happen to a doctor brings a whole new level of complications. In the same interview, Jon Ecker also teased Doc to potentially expand on several relationships in Jake’s life while exploring his character, which makes the series’ return even more exciting.
