The article contains spoilers for Found season 2, episode 21, “Missing While a Family.”As the Found finale approaches, one star is teasing an utterly “unhinged” conclusion. After premiering in October 2023, the show enjoyed a two-season run that saw Shanola Hampton’s Gabi kidnapping and imprisoning her former captor, Mark-Paul Gosselaar’s Sir. After season 1, however, Sir’s escape meant that the show’s sophomore season was a chaotic adventure that left M&A in a difficult position. The chaos only grew worse when Lena (Danielle Savre) kidnapped Parker Queenan’s Jamie shortly before Found was canceled ahead of season 3.
While the cancellation has likely hindered plans to continue this story, there is still one last episode before the show concludes. In an interview with TV Insider, Hampton explained that the final episode will be “a super crazy, heart-pounding finale.” Check out her quote below:
We’ve seen Margaret cry, and we’ve seen Margaret upset and be broken, and now you get to see Margaret in complete mama bear control mode and that is exciting to watch after having so many breakdowns through the season. This is back to what Margaret and Gabi do together again, and I think that we’ve earned that after this year and after where they came from to have it and with them on this mission together looking for Jamie and him being taken again, which, this show will give you trauma and then they got to retraumatize you with the trauma. The kid has already been taken. Now we’re going to take the baby again. Gabi Mosley gets taken, she gets held at gunpoint, that’s not enough. Now she’s got to be in a riot. It’s just so good at making sure that we know your triggers, but it’s a super crazy, heart-pounding finale, and that’s exciting.
In addition, she is excited that audiences will finally get to see it and promised that the last episode will be unpredictable, “unhinged,” and “the craziest place to be.” Read her comment below:
As we are on this sort of crazy runaway train to the finale, everything feels unhinged, and Gabi handles everything, but it all is coming to a head, and it comes to a head in a way that I don’t think the fans will expect because it also comes to an end that makes you think, well, where do we go from here now? That’s always the craziest place to be. Even after Season 1, right, Sir’s out of the basement, everyone was saying, OK, so where do we go from here? And then we have this crazy Season 2 and the way Gabi handles moving forward now will leave us being like, OK, wait, now. So where do we go from here?
What Found’s Finale Means For The Show
This Will Be The Series Finale
The final episode will likely see M&A confronting Lena in a desperate attempt to save Jaime from captivity. Given that he has been kidnapped before, they will likely need to move quickly to ensure that they can minimize the extent of his trauma, while also hoping to keep him alive. This will also be a moment of trauma for Gabi, who spent over a year in captivity herself before breaking free of Sir’s control. The entire mission of M&A is to help find the kidnapped, and this tragic failure will only make that need more intense.
Unfortunately, the early cancellation means that audiences may not have the opportunity to see the long-term effects of this new kidnapping. Declining viewership, a considerable budget, and shifting priorities for NBC meant that the show was canceled just one week before the finale was set to air. While Found is an entirely unique police procedural, it failed to draw enough attention to convince NBC to continue to invest in the series. Another network or streaming platform could potentially save the show, but that’s not a guarantee.
Our Take On Found’s Upcoming Finale
The Show Is Going Out With A Bang
The upcoming finale may not have been intended as a series finale, but it could be equally effective. If the season does not end with a cliffhanger, as Found season 1 did, then Jaime’s rescue could be a natural endpoint. After all, much of season 1 was dedicated to finding him, so it would be a way to bring everything full circle. Unfortunately, this show will likely end prematurely, as it was shot and produced before NBC decided on its cancellation. This will be an exciting but bittersweet finale, especially if Jaime remains in captivity after the final scene.
