Game of Thrones‘ Lyanna Stark actor Aisling Franciosi has addressed her potential return in a spinoff series focused on Robert’s Rebellion. Following the massive success of the ongoing prequel series House of the Dragon, multiple Game of Thrones spinoffs have gone into development, expanding on the world of Westeros beyond the original story. This includes A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which is scheduled for release later this year, and an untitled show about Aegon’s Conquest that’s currently in development. However, other shows are also in development, which could see the light of day as the fantasy franchise expands.

Speaking with ScreenRant about her new comedy movie, Twinless, at Sundance Film Festival, Franciosi explained how she would be open to returning as Lyanna Stark in a future Game of Thrones spinoff about Robert’s Rebellion. The actor, who portrayed Jon Snow’s (Kit Harrington) late mother, said she’d even return for a small part like her previous appearances, open to the idea of being part of the franchise again. Historically, Westeros believed she had been taken by the Targaryen prince by force, something Bran (Isaac Hempstead Wright) learned wasn’t true. He also learned that Jon was not, in fact, the bastard son of Ned Stark (Sean Bean), but rather the child of the betrothed pair. The truth about Jon Snow’s parents became a key factor in the show’s final seasons.

If Lyanna were to return, it would likely be in a possible spinoff series, either through flashbacks or, as House of the Dragon season 2’s ending established, flash-forwards. A Robert’s Rebellion show would offer her a larger role than ever before, since she’d be a focal figure within the conflict, even if she was on the sidelines for most of it.
