Ghosts star Brandon Scott Jones addresses how Nigel’s (John Hartman) eventual season 4 return will impact his relationship with Isaac. As the CBS comedy progressed, Isaac (Jones) and Nigel, former combatants during the American Revolutionary War, developed a romance and planned to get married. In the Ghosts season 3 finale, however, Isaac was unable to wed Nigel, leaving his would-be spouse at the altar. When they were last seen together, the characters decided to live separately and remain seemingly amicable, but Nigel has not appeared in recent episodes.
During an interview with Collider, Jones explained how Nigel’s return in Ghosts season 4 will affect his character. He teased that Nigel would come back soon and that he and Isaac might become enamored by another spirit. Jones also revealed that he enjoyed exploring their new dynamic as friends, but added that trouble may occur when Nigel and Isaac chase the same person. Read Jones’ comments below:
We’re going to be seeing Nigel again very, very shortly. I think what’s interesting is that this is the first time we’re going to see them as friends now be tested in terms of, like, maybe another ghost coming by that they both are very fascinated by and interested in, and I think that could cause a little bit of a rift. But hopefully, if things are trending in the right direction, they’ll be able to work past it. It was fun to get a chance to play a new color to the relationship as ghosts, especially with John Hartman as Nigel. It was really fun to just see, like, ‘Okay, they’re not on firm footing yet, but they are making the attempts to try and be as cordial and as friendly as possible.’ And that doesn’t come without its complications. So when we have a new ghost show up that is a hot dude, I think it’ll be pretty fun.
What This Could Mean For Ghosts Season 4
Isaac And Nigel May Face Another Challenge Post-Breakup
Isaac and Nigel have had rough patches, especially when the former called off their marriage in front of Sam (Rose McIver) and the spirits at Woodstone. Despite some frustration, Isaac claimed that the relationship ended on considerate terms, but in Ghosts season 4, episode 2, he sought to impel Nigel away from the manor. Wanting to be kinder and hoping not to upset his ex-partner anymore, Jones’ character volunteered to relocate. However, the arrangement was eventually reversed, and Nigel moved out.

Later on, the characters squabble over their wedding presents, suggesting that discord may still exist, and based on Jones’ comments, another challenge might be on the way. As ghosts, Isaac and Nigel will always have their history, which stems beyond their romance, so it is worth wondering if and how they will get along moving forward. They seemed to make up in season 4, but potentially having another spirit come onto the property, who attracts both Isaac and Nigel, could reveal where they stand.
Our Take On Nigel Returning To Season 4
Isaac And Nigel Should Remain Close
Whether there is hope for them to resume their relationship or they simply remain friends, after everything they have been through, Isaac and Nigel should continue being in each other’s lives. It will be interesting to see who the spirit is that has charmed both, and what it means for their behavior towards one another in Ghosts season 4, having decided to be civil once again. Jones’ comments indicate that problems may arise which could be entertaining, and how everything pans out will likely be significant.
