New images from the Ghosts season 4 finale reveal the return of two key characters. After a third installment that was shortened due to the 2023 writers and actors strikes, the supernatural comedy returned in full force to dig deeper into its cohort of undead spirits. It also brought old antagonists and introduced new ones, putting Jay (Utkarsh Ambudkar) in some particular danger. It sets up a finale that could potentially overflow with cliffhangers, heading into the already-renewed Ghosts season 5.
TV Insider has shared photos from the upcoming Ghosts season 4 finale, “The Devil Went Down.” The episode will debut on Thursday, May 8, at 8:30 PM ET on CBS. In the photo gallery below, it’s shown that Patience (Mary Holland) and Elias (Matt Walsh) will make their returns for the episode. The images also highlight several of the main characters:
What The Ghosts Season 4 Finale Means
Jay Is In A Tricky Situation
The Ghosts finale will revolve around a book launch party that takes place at the central Woodstone Manor. The party is hosted by Sam and Jay in celebration of Isaac’s (Brandon Scott Jones) vampire book. However, the reappearance of Elias is a definite sign of potential trouble. He has been trying to recruit one of the spirits to Hell. They’d essentially oversee the operation, which is preferable to an eternity of torture, but none of the core Ghosts characters agreed. As a secondary option, Elias tried to get Jay to sell his soul.

Jay responded, in turn, by saying that he needed some time to think about the offer. He didn’t know, of course, that he’d be selling his soul for success or that Elias was a demon. That lingering thread could come back to haunt Sam and Jay in time for the finale. As for Patience, though she’s still a chaotic presence, she did make peace with Isaac during her appearances earlier in the season, though she may not like the idea of a vampire book.
Our Take On The Ghosts Finale
It Could Be A Game Changer
There is not much known about the Ghosts finale outside of its returning faces and the fact that the book launch will be a focal point. The relative secrecy tends to mean that there could be a few lingering twists that could change the course of the CBS sitcom, which is led by showrunners Joe Port and Joe Wiseman. With the episode just days from debuting, the space for speculation is narrowing and answers will soon be delivered. It could unlock a new aspect of the sitcom after all the characters’ powers, including Hetty’s, have finally been revealed.
Ghosts season 4 airs Thursdays at 8:30 PM ET on CBS.
