Avatar: The Last Airbender voice actor Jennifer Hale is eager to reprise her role as Avatar Kyoshi. The Nickelodeon series centers on the powerful but young Avatar Aang, who must learn mastery over the four elements in hopes of putting a stop to the efforts of the Fire Nation’s conquest. Making her debut in the first season of Avatar: The Last Airbender, Kyoshi is a former Avatar who put a swift and brutal end to a rising tyrant, inspiring an organization of warriors named after her.
As Hale looked back on the legacy of Avatar: The Last Airbender with Comicbook.com, the voice actor revealed that she remained eager to reprise her role as the series enjoys a renaissance. Stating that she had enjoyed seeing a new generation become enamored with the franchise and find inspiration in Kyoshi, Hale stated she would be happy to reprise her role and further expand the character’s tale as expanded media has further fleshed out her journey. I love seeing the resurgence, and it’s so cool that a new generation gets to dive into this and experience it. I love this character, Kyoshi, because she will do what it takes regardless. I think we have that in common for better or for worse. I love her strength because it was recorded during a time where this wasn’t as common and women weren’t as much in these roles, doing these kinds of things. Now, thankfully, this seems much more of the norm. At that point, it was just beginning to take part of that.
I would love to jump back into the role. I would be there with bells on, let me at it. Any participation in that would be a joy! I’ve actually seen the Kyoshi novels and I’ve signed several of them that fans have brought to me. Love the role.”

However, there are limitations to how Kyoshi could return in future animated Avatar: The Last Airbender productions. Within the events of the sequel series The Legend of Korra, the titular character’s connection to past Avatars was permanently severed, making it unclear whether the upcoming Earth Bender-led sequel series could see Kyoshi manifest there. However, with a movie focused on an older Aang in development, it is always possible the young Airbender could look to Kyoshi for more advice, despite their battling ideals.
