Legacy Star Doesn’t Rule Out Movie Possibility Ahead Of Show Ending With Season 3

Bosch: Legacy star Titus Welliver talks about the possibility of movies as the spinoff series comes to an end. Continuing the journey of Welliver’s titular LAPD detective from the original Bosch show, the sequel sees Bosch work as a private investigator, having retired from the force. In September, it was announced that the sequel would conclude after season 3, currently releasing weekly episodes on Prime Video.

In an interview with TV Insider, Welliver talked about the cancellation of season 4 and what could be ahead for his character. The actor shared that the experience of seeing Bosch back in action in season 3 sparked the conversation for his character to “get Harry back on the job” again in season 4, and with the franchise moving forward with a Maggie Q-led series to continue the story thread, there might be new possibilities. Welliver teased that there’s always a distinct possibility” of doing a feature-length movie. Check out his comments below:

There’s always a distinct possibility, like they’ve done with Jack Ryan and Reacher, [for] spun off feature-length films. So is there a possibility of life for that character? I think so.

Titus Welliver Isn’t Ready To Move On From Harry Bosch

It has been confirmed that Welliver will be in the Maggie Q-led spin-off, Ballard, but the Bosch actor still has plenty of ideas for his titular character. In the same interview, the actor shared that he has grown deeply attached to the character. He explained that Bosch doesn’t evolve like any other characters because the character gets more vulnerable with age.

Even though Welliver’s journey as the lead star and executive producer of Bosch: Legacy has come to an end, he’s staying with Prime Video with a first-look deal for a TV series. Welliver has previously talked about the possibility of the franchise picking up Bosch: Legacy some time in the future, in addition to making movies. It seems that the actor is not ready to move on from the Harry Bosch universe yet, and with the studio being very invested in the franchise, Bosch movies aren’t off limits.

Harry Bosch Movies Might Not Be A Bad Idea

Two of the novelist Michael Connelly’s books have been adapted into movies. Both are considered a success, with Blood Work grossing over $100 million against a $50 million budget and The Lincoln Lawyer being praised by critics. With Welliver expressing his interest, a Harry Bosch movie might become a reality one day, and as the actor noted, many successful TV series have done this before. There’s certainly an interest and demand for it.

Bosch: Legacy‘s cancellation comes as sad news for many longtime fans, who were looking forward to another season of the Welliver-led series. It’s unknown what the franchise’s future holds beyond Ballard, but Welliver will return to the small screen with the actor set to headline a potential spinoff of The Equalizer.

New episodes of Bosch: Legacy arrive Thursdays on Prime Video.
