Along with the renewal of Miss Scarlet season 6, the latest update confirms the exit of another main cast member just this week. Created by Rachael New, and combining elements of crime drama with the historical setting of Victorian times, the seriesdebuted on PBS in October 2020. The story centers on the titular Eliza Scarlet (Kate Phillips) as she takes over her late father’s detective agency. Miss Scarlet season 6 was confirmed earlier this week, though it will be missing two familiar faces.
TV Insider confirms that Felix Solis will not return as Patrick Nash in Miss Scarlet season 6. Solis has played Nash, a private detective, since season 2 of the historical crime drama. A reason for Solis’ absence was not provided. But it is the latest shakeup for the cast of the PBS since, as Evan McCabe’s exit as Oliver Fitzroy was announced earlier this week.
What The Cast Departures Mean For Miss Scarlet Season 6
Nash’s Presence May Still Be Felt
Nash makes an appearance in the Miss Scarlet season 5 cast, though he ultimately returns to Australia to resume his detective work. In that sense, the PBS series may have already accounted for Solis’ exit. As for McCabe, Fitzroy had a rockier fifth installment. The police commissioner’s son is beaten, though the identities of the perpetrators are unknown. It was explained that McCabe was leaving Miss Scarlet due to The Royal Shakespeare Company’s Hamlet.
As Eliza and Blake’s once-fraught relationship begins to evolve, they find that working together may be a tricky prospect. Meanwhile, newlyweds Ivy and Potts adjust to married life, a new detective settles in at Scotland Yard, and Nash causes chaos, even from across the globe. Joining this season’s adventures in his greatly anticipated return is Moses Valentine, who swoops in to help Eliza and her crew, just when they need him most.
The crime drama’s ensemble will account for the gaps, in any case, as it welcomes Sam Buchanan as Detective George Willows, a new arrival to Scotland Yard. Grace Hogg-Robinson, meanwhile, plays the ambitious young Isabel Summers. There is also a reference to Nash causing chaos in the upcoming season’s official synopsis, which is included above, so the character may still have a presence even if Solis doesn’t appear in any scenes.
Our Take On Miss Scarlet’s Cast Changes
Plenty Of Familiar Faces Will Still Be Present
Phillips will reprise her role as Eliza Scarlet. Other returning actors for Miss Scarlet season 6 include Tom Durant-Pritchard as DI Alexander Blake, Cathy Belton as Ivy, Paul Bazely as Clarence, Simon Ludders as Mr. Potts, Tim Chipping as Detective Phelps, and Ansu Kabia as Moses. It’s a good thing to have that sense of continuity for a long-running PBS show that, in the eyes of many fans, is still recalibrating after the loss of Stuart Martin as the formerly central Duke.
