Following the show’s premiere during Phase 4, a new update about the possibility of Ms. Marvel season 2 is shared by one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe series stars. One of the most well-received new heroes to the MCU in recent years is Iman Vellani’s Kamala Khan, a.k.a. Ms. Marvel, after she headlined her own solo series, before making her way to the big screen in The Marvels. But while Kamala hasn’t been seen in the MCU since 2023, there are still questions surrounding whether Ms. Marvel season 2 is still on the table.
However, it appears that Ms. Marvel season 2 is not likely to happen, at least according to Red Dagger actor Aramis Knight. While speaking with ScreenRant’s Liam Crowley at the Karate Kid: Legends NYC premiere, Knight was asked if he thinks that the MCU has seen the last of Red Dagger. The MCU star shared, “I wish not, but I think so.” This led to a follow-up question about whether that meant Ms. Marvel season 2 is not moving forward, and Knight shared the following:
ScreenRant: Do you think we’ve seen the last of Red Dagger?
Aramis Knight: I wish not, but I think so.
ScreenRant: No Ms. Marvel season 2?
Aramis Knight: I don’t think so. I mean it’s been a long time now, so I am not really sure. I mean I would love to. I was supposed to make appearances and other things but it didn’t end up working out and some logistical stuff and COVID stuff and I think also creative stuff. But I mean that was also an amazing show, but I dunno, I’m still waiting for the call to be honest.
ScreenRant: Hey, I think she’s assembling the Young Avengers right now, so she’s got your number on speed dial.
Aramis Knight: She’s definitely got my number on speed dial, that’s for sure.
Even though Knight’s update about Ms. Marvel season 2 is disappointing, the show has not been officially cancelled by Marvel Studios. Given how well-received Kamala has been with the MCU audience, particularly because of what Vellani brings to the role, it might simply be a matter of Marvel Studios trying to figure out the best way to approach Ms. Marvel season 2. Since Marvel Studios is working hard on finishing the remainder of The Multiverse Saga, that can also explain the lack of Ms. Marvel season 2 updates.
One of the things that could also be holding up a formal greenlight on Ms. Marvel season 2 is the restructuring that has been going on at Marvel Television, as they have been working on taking a more traditional approach to TV shows for their MCU properties. Since Ms. Marvel was made before this new initiative, it’s possible the reason Knight or other cast members haven’t heard if the show is coming back is because Marvel may be trying to see how Kamala’s show could fit into the overall plan. With other in-development MCU TV shows being paused for the time being, Ms. Marvel’s fate may not be determined until after Phase 6 is over.
From what Knight shared with ScreenRant, it’s clear he, as much as the fans, is hoping for Ms. Marvel season 2 to happen, even if the chances are looking slim for the time being. As Knight also revealed to ScreenRant in July 2022, during Ms. Marvel season 1, he’ll be back if the show does continue, and based on his latest comments, he is more than willing to continue playing Red Dagger in the MCU. Even if it has to be in Phase 7, there will hopefully be a Ms. Marvel season 2, ideally with Red Dagger’s role expanded after the events of season 1.
Karate Kid: Legends hits theaters on May 30.
