New Harlan Coben Netflix Series Adds Prolific TV Creator As Producer/Writer For Myron Bolitar Adaptation

The latest Harlan Coben Netflix series based on his Myron Bolitar novels has added an iconic TV creator to its team. He is a bestselling author whose novels have been adapted for the small screen several times. Coben’s books tend to make for highly viewed Netflix series, including Fool Me Once and Missing You. Among his extensive writing credits are the Myron Bolitar series, which began in 1995 with the novel Deal Breaker. It has since had 11 novels total, which Netflix is working on adapting.

Per Deadline, the Myron Bolitar series has pegged an all-time great TV creator as a producer and writer. The talent is David E. Kelley. Kelley and Coben will collaborate on scripts together and executive produce the Myron Bolitar series.

What This Means For The Myron Bolitar Adaptation

Kelley Is High-Profile

Netflix’s Myron Bolitar series adaptation stems back to an arrangement with Coben that was made years ago. In 2018, Netflix signed a five-year contract agreement with Coben that would allow the streamer to adapt 14 of his books for series and movies. In 2022, Netflix re-upped the agreement and added rights to 12 more novel adaptations. Eleven of these 12 would be the novels in the Myron Bolitar series, which was planned as an ongoing TV series. The fact that Netflix wanted to take on this whole series showed their prioritization of Coben adaptations.

Hiring Kelley is also evidence of how serious Netflix is about their upcoming Coben adaptation. Kelley is one of the most iconic TV creators working today, being the maker behind another popular Netflix show, The Lincoln Lawyer. His past series include Love & Death, Big Little Lies, and Ally McBeal. Between Big Little Lies and titles like Nine Perfect Strangers, Kelley is also well-versed in adapting books for television, making him a great addition to the Myron Bolitar team.

Our Take On David E. Kelley’s Addition To The Myron Bolitar Team

Myron Bolitar Could Be A Longer-Running Series

With Kelley on board, the Myron Bolitar series could easily be the highest-profile Coben series adaptation yet. This is a good choice for this particular series, as with 11 books included, this could be a long-running series if Netflix adapts all the books. Coben’s series are always popular but not always well-received by critics. With a longer-term series, it will be important to get a really confident and competent creator on the case.
