Disney provides a new official glimpse at Iron Man’s MCU successor in Ironheart footage. Riri Williams a.k.a. Ironheart made her debut in 2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, where she proved her skills as a genius-level inventor and superhero with the creation of her homemade Ironheart suits of armor. In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams was officially initiated as an Avengers-level hero by the Wakandans. Three years later, Williams will star in her own Disney+ show, the upcoming Ironheart miniseries, which will test her abilities as an independent superhero.
During Disney‘s 2025 Annual Meeting of Shareholders Webcast, a brief glimpse of Ironheart footage reveals the clearest images so far of Riri Willliams’ new Ironheart armor, which she will start wearing at some point in her Disney+ show. This gray, bulky suit of armor seems to be inspired by Tony Stark’s Iron Man Mark I and Iron Man Mark II suits. Check out the images below:
Riri Williams Will Put Her Tony Stark-Level Intellect And Resourcefulness To The Test
In Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Riri Williams received an ultra-high-tech suit of armor from the Wakandans designed with vibranium and Wakandan technology by Shuri. This suit of armor hasn’t been featured in Ironheart‘s promotional footage, suggesting that Riri Williams lost it or gave it up some time before the events of her solo series. Similarly to Peter Parker at the end of Spider-Man: No Way Home, Riri Williams may have to put her own skills to the test in order to make a new suit, which may not be as advanced.

Marvel’s Ironheart Trailer Proves The MCU Is Fixing A 10-Year-Old Iron Man Problem
After 10 years of a frustrating Iron Man trend in the MCU, Ironheart will be rectifying it by implementing one crucial aspect into the show’s armor.
Disney’s new Ironheart footage only focuses on Riri Williams’ dark gray suit of armor, but other Ironheart footage confirms Riri will eventually upgrade to a sleeker, white-and-silver Ironheart armor. This advanced Ironheart armor resembles the Ironheart suit Riri Williams wears in What If…? season 3, where she defeats a “galactic conqueror” variant of Mysterio. While Riri Williams isn’t as wealthy or as famous as Tony Stark, she has displayed an unparalleld evolution in her Ironheart designs — one faster than Tony Stark’s Iron Man armor evolution throughout his fifteen-year MCU journey.
Riri Williams’ Ironheart Armor Downgrade Is Necessary
Riri Williams’ new suits of armor shown in Ironheart‘s promotional footage are evidently less advanced than the Ironheart armor she received from Shuri in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. While Riri Williams’ new suits are a clear downgrade, they improve Ironheart‘s narrative potential, as they push Riri to be more resourceful. Eventually, Riri Williams will design an Ironheart armor that resembles her most emblematic red-and-black look from the comics, and this time, it will probably be a design of her own.
