Shailene Woodley Reunites With Big Little Lies’ On-Screen Son As Season 3 Still Looms

Big Little Lies stars Shailene Woodley and Iain Armitage reunite while season 3 of the series continues to take shape. Woodley played Jane Chapman and Armitage played her son, Ziggy, in the hit HBO series. Despite already going beyond the source material, along with the finality of season 2’s ending, Nicole Kidman later confirmed that Big Little Lies season 3 is in development. Reese Witherspoon also shared her involvement in season 3’s development and HBO executive Casey Bloys further confirmed that it is in its early stages.

On Instagram, Armitage has now shared a photo of him and Woodley reuniting. The photo was taken after Armitage went to see Woodley perform in the play Cult of Love, which is her Broadway debut. Armitage refers to Woodley as his “first fake Mama” in the post, since he filmed Big Little Lies season 1 before Young Sheldon season 1. In the post, Armitage also reminisces about how encouraging and supportive Woodley was of his acting career when he was first cast in Big Little Lies at the age of 7. Check out the post below:

What This Means For Big Little Lies

A Jane And Ziggy Reunion Needs To Happen In Season 3

While Big Little Lies season 3 is still in the early stages of development, it is exciting to see that prominent cast members are still close and supporting each other’s careers. Season 3 could see Jane and Ziggy reuniting, although the reunion would be more complicated after Big Little Lies season 2’s ending, which saw Jane and other members of the Monterey Five going to the police station and presumably turning themselves in. This means that Ziggy might need to visit his mother in prison in season 3.

Previously, Woodley’s Big Little Lies suggestion was that instead of focusing on the Monterey Five, season 3 could instead focus more on the younger generation. As indicated by Armitage’s reference to how he started Big Little Lies season 1 before Young Sheldon, he has come a long way in his career since then. The same goes for Kathryn Newton and Cameron Crovetti, two of the other younger actors who have since starred in bigger roles in other major movies and television series.

Our Take On The Shailene Woodley And Iain Armitage Reunion

It Is Sweet To See And Bodes Well For The Future

Jane Tucking Ziggy Into Bed In Big Little Lies

It is heartwarming to see Woodley and Armitage reuniting, especially with the reason being Armitage going to support Woodley in her Broadway debut. In terms of the HBO series’ future, seeing Jane and Ziggy together again feels like an important addition to a Big Little Lies season 3 wishlist. Woodley’s idea of focusing more on the younger generation is promising, but even if Ziggy becomes more of a main character than Jane, there should still be a reunion between mother and son in Big Little Lies season 3.
