T.O.P, who plays Thanos in Squid Game season 2, reflects on the dances he did during the Mingle game. The story of Squid Game season 2 follows Gi-hun, who returns to the games to help a new group of players. The cast includes Lee Jung-jae, Lee Byung-hun, and Wi Ha-joon, who all reprise their roles from season 1. However, Squid Game season 2 also includes several new characters. One of the most notable new characters is Thanos, an unhinged player who seems to enjoy the games.
The show’s official Instagram account posted an interview that features T.O.P. reflecting on his dance moves during Mingle. Many K-pop fans thought Thanos’ dance moves during Mingle were a reference to a BigBang performance, the group T.O.P was formerly part of. However, in the interview, T.O.P. claims that he improvised all of his dance moves during Mingle while they were shooting. Read his full comments below:
I thought of typical cowboy moves. Since the lyrics are, “round and round we go,” I improvised this move. I think it fit perfectly and went well with the lyrics. It was the director’s idea to hook arms and circle around. I wasn’t sure at first, but then I realized it would be hilarious, since both characters have a few screws loose by this time. I figured it would be a really funny scene and danced like my soul was already far gone. But unexpectedly, many people did the challenge online, and I’m thankful it made such an impression worldwide.
Thanos’ Dance Moves During Squid Game’s Mingle Have Gone Viral
Thanos’ Mingle Dance Moves In Squid Game Are Very Memorable
During Squid Game’s Mingle game, which was featured in season 2, episode 6, the players spin around on a platform until a number is called out. Once the platform stops, the players have to form groups of that number and make their way to one of the rooms around the perimeter. Mingle was one of the most stressful games in Squid Game season 2. All the players are on edge waiting for the number to be called, except for Thanos and his friend, Nam-gyu.
Thanos’ attitude towards all the games is completely different from the other players.
While waiting for the number to be called, Thanos and Nam-gyu continuously dance on the platform. Thanos’ attitude towards all the games is completely different from the other players. Thanos actually takes pills that are hidden in his cross necklace before every game. Therefore, he is incredibly hyper and excited while playing all the games. Thanos’ unique attitude and approach to the games make him one of the standout new characters in Squid Game season 2.
T.O.P Was Perfect For The Role Of Thanos In Squid Game Season 2
T.O.P is perhaps best known as a K-pop performer. Therefore, it’s understandable that fans immediately thought his dance moves were a reference to some of his K-pop performances. However, it’s good that T.O.P separated Thanos from his K-pop history. Improvising the dance moves while filming the Mingle sequence in Squid Game season 2 proves that he was fully engrossed in the role. T.O.P’s commitment to his Squid Game role is evident, as Thanos is a very memorable character.
