St. Denis Medical creator Eric Ledgin addresses the possibility of Superstore stars America Ferrera and Ben Feldman guest starring on NBC’s newest workplace comedy. The medical mockumentary was created by Superstore‘s Justin Spitzer and Ledgin and follows the underfunded yet dedicated staff of St. Denis Hospital. With Superstore alumni Nico Santos and Kaliko Kauahi already making guest appearances, audiences are wondering whether Ferrera and Feldman might eventually join the St. Denis Medical cast in future guest appearances.
During an interview with ScreenRant at the 2025 SXSW Film Festival, St. Denis Medical co-creator and co-showrunner Ledgin, alongside Universal Television’s EVP of Comedy Development Jim Donnelly, discussed the possibility of the Superstore alums joining the medical comedy. While there are no official plans yet, Ledgin made it clear that both Ferrera and Feldman would be welcome at any moment. Read Ledgin and Donnelly’s full comments below:
Eric Ledgin: They’d always be invited. They’re both lovely and talented people, and we’ve been incredibly lucky and had some incredible guest stars this year, and there’s really no one that I wouldn’t want to come back and be curious to see what would happen with them, but yeah. Those guys are wonderful, and I would love to have them on if they’re watching.
Jim Donnelly: Me too.
What This Means for St. Denis Medical
More Guest Appearances Could Be On The Horizon
St. Denis Medical‘s reviews and viewership ratings have proven that the show is a success, and Ledgin’s response indicates that the medical mockumentary has its doors open to welcome more familiar comedy veterans onto the show. Guest appearances from former Superstore stars already cement its connection to the beloved workplace sitcom. Given the series’ mockumentary style and character-driven humor, Ferrera and Feldman’s appearances would feel like a natural addition to the show. Although St. Denis Medical and Superstore are set in vastly different workplaces, their comedic sensibilities align perfectly.

With the St. Denis Medical season 2 renewal, the possibility of their cameo does not seem too far-fetched. Since Superstore ended in 2021, Ferrera has gone on to star in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, earning an Academy Award nomination, while Feldman has continued working in TV and animation. While their schedules may be packed, their potential involvement in St. Denis Medical would be a major event for those who enjoy the workplace comedy genre. With St. Denis Medical still in season 1, there’s plenty of room for creative ways to incorporate either star into the show.
Our Take On Superstore Stars Joining St. Denis Medical
A Perfect Comedy Crossover
While a recurring role for Ferrera or Feldman probably won’t happen, a single-episode guest spot would be perfect. Their guest appearances could see them playing brand-new characters in the medical setting, either as patients or workers, and could potentially nod to their Superstore roots. If the show continues to expand its guest roster, adding familiar faces from the Superstore universe and other beloved sitcoms would be a fantastic way to surprise and keep viewers engaged. Whether or not it happens, St. Denis Medical has already established itself as a worthy addition to NBC’s long-running legacy of workplace sitcoms.
