The Bear Star Has A Hopeful Response For Season 4 Return After Their Character Became An Instant Fan-Favorite

The Bear star shares a hopeful response for a season 4 return after their character became an instant fan-favorite. Premiered in 2022, FX on Hulu’s acclaimed series follows an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to run his late brother’s Italian beef sandwich shop and transforms it into a fine-dining restaurant. In addition to its main cast, which includes Emmy winners Jeremy Allen White, Ebon Moss-Bachrach, and Ayo Edebiri, The Bear also frequently features celebrity cameos from Jamie Lee Curtis, Olivia Colman, Bob Odenkirk, John Cena, Josh Hartnett, and many more.

During a recent interview with the Los Angeles Times, Will Poulter was asked if he would be returning as Luca in The Bear season 4. The star shared a hopeful response, but was unable to confirm anything, saying, “I really hope so. I love that show so much.” Read his full response below:

I really hope so. I love that show so much. The fact I get to be in it is crazy. When I’m on that set, I’m like, “Oh, they’ve let a fan on set.” I literally feel like a competition winner.

Is The Fan-Favorite Character Coming Back?

Will Poulter was one of The Bear season 2’s many cameos, appearing as Luca, who trains Marcus (Lionel Boyce) while he is in Copenhagen in episode 4, “Honeydew.” The charming and tattooed pastry chef quickly became a fan-favorite for how he bonded with Marcus, providing a tender contrast to the usual chaotic nature of the show. In turn, fans were delighted when Luca returned during The Bear season 3 finale as one of the many chefs at Ever’s closing dinner in Chicago.

After walking through Carmy, Sydney, and the crew’s struggles with their new restaurant, The Bear season 3 ends on a fascinatingly ambiguous note.

During the season 3 finale, Luca tells Sydney (Ayo Edebiri) that he will be staying in Chicago for a few months to visit his sister, which likely sets up Luca’s return in The Bear season 4. Lucas and Sydney also shared some palpable romantic chemistry during the season 3 finale, so it’s possible that these scenes were hinting at a possible romance in season 4. With Will Poulter expressing interest and effusive praise for the show, all signs seem to be pointing towards Luca’s return in season 4.

Other than Luca and Sydney’s potential romance, The Bear season 4 could also continue exploring Carmy and Luca’s past rivalry when they worked together at the same restaurant. Luca is also a mentor figure for fellow pastry chef Marcus, and he could continue helping him refine his skills in season 4. Though Luca’s return in The Bear season 4 is still unconfirmed, there are plenty of storylines to be explored with his character.

Parts of The Bear season 4 were filmed back-to-back with season 3. Filming is scheduled to restart sometime in 2025.
