Eric Kripke provides an exciting update on the highly anticipated Supernatural reunion that will take place in The Boys season 5. Kripke, who is the showrunner of Supernatural and The Boys, previously reunited with Jensen Ackles, who made his debut as Soldier Boy in season 3 of the Prime Video show. It was later confirmed that Ackles’ Supernatural co-stars Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins would be joining The Boys season 5’s cast, thus creating a reunion between the actors who played Dean Winchester, Sam Winchester, and Castiel.
While speaking with TV Insider, Kripke revealed that the scenes featuring the three Supernatural stars have already been shot. He also confirmed that Ackles, Padalecki, and Collins are all part of the same storyline in The Boys season 5 and that their characters will interact with each other. A fifth individual from Supernatural was part of Kripke’s reunion with the actors, as director Phil Sgriccia also worked on Supernatural and The Boys. Check out Kripke’s comments below:
It’s a blast. We already shot it. I will confirm that Jared, Jensen, and Misha are all in the same frame together, and in the same storyline, and interacting with each other.
Having the five of us back together on set, filming, was just so fun and like a high school reunion, and you immediately fall into all your old patterns.
It was really heartwarming and nice to like immediately be brought back to these guys that I love and haven’t had them all together, at least in a professional capacity, in years and years. So it was really, really meaningful.
What This Means For The Boys Season 5
The Supernatural Reunion Will Have Tremendous Payoff
Kripke’s comments confirm that Padalecki and Collins’ characters will be part of Soldier Boy’s storyline in The Boys‘ final season. As Kripke mentions, this also means that the three Supernatural stars will get to share the screen together and interact, which will make their reunion all the more rewarding. Who Padalecki and Collins are playing remains under wraps, but being involved with Soldier Boy does not bode well for their characters, as Ackles’ character is notoriously volatile.

The Boys’ 11 Main Characters Ranked By How Likely They Are To Die In Season 5
The stakes are higher than ever heading into The Boys’ final season, and some central characters are much more likely to die than others.
The fates of Padalecki and Collins’ characters probably will not be heartwarming, but the behind-the-scenes reunion was heartwarming for the actors, Kripke, and Sgriccia. Supernatural is an enduring success in its own right, but it also paved the way for The Boys, and for some of the show’s most important creatives in front of and behind the camera. Seeing Kripke, Ackles, Padalecki, Collins, and Sgriccia working together on The Boys season 5 is a full-circle moment for all of them.
The Boys’ Supernatural Reunion Continues To Get More Exciting
It is satisfying to know that the Supernatural stars’ characters won’t just be in The Boys season 5, but will get to interact and be part of the same storyline. Having Padalecki and Collins in the show, only for them not to interact and share the screen with Ackles, would have been a missed opportunity. With Soldier Boy expected to join Homelander’s (Antony Starr) army of supes, Padalecki and Collins’ characters may also be part of that army, or they could be individuals Soldier Boy is hunting. Regardless, the reunion is a thrilling prospect that will be worth the wait.
