The Four Seasons Season 2 Gets Optimistic Response From Co-Creators

The Four Seasons Season 2 Gets Optimistic Response From Co-Creators

This article contains spoilers for The Four Seasons.

The chances of The Four Seasons season 2 being renewed earn a hopeful response from two of the show’s creative team. Co-created by the trio of Tina Fey, Lang Fisher, and Tracey Wigfield, and drawing inspiration from the 1981 movie of the same name, the eight-episode Netflix comedy recently premiered. It follows six friends who go on a relaxing trip together, only to learn that one couple intends to end their relationship. With a Four Seasons cast that includes Will Forte, Colman Domingo, Marco Calvani, Steve Carell, Erika Henningsen, Kerri Kenney-Silver, and Fey, the series has received generally positive reviews.

In an interview with TV Insider, Wigfield and Fey addressed whether The Four Seasons could return for season 2. Wigfield referenced events in the finale for her response, noting that the Netflix comedy would follow many of the same characters if it received a renewal. Fey agreed, underlining the fact that she would like to hang out with the cast again. Their responses are included below:

Wigfield: “If we did another season, we would want the same group of friends, and we’d want Ginny to really be tied in there because she and Anne are going to have children who are siblings. And it just gives us a lot to play with in their relationship.”

Fey: “I feel like we sort of don’t dare to dream yet, but we did. Who knows. If we were lucky enough to do more of these, we’d certainly all like to hang out again.”

What Would It Mean For The Four Seasons To Get Renewed

There Are Metrics To Track

The Four Seasons season 2 only debuted on May 1, so it’s likely a little early to say whether the Netflix comedy is on its way to scoring a renewal. But even though it does not release full viewership data, such as how many viewers completed a series, there are ways to monitor how well a Netflix Original is doing. In this case, it will be important to track how well The Four Seasons is doing on Netflix’s Top 10 charts.

Most shows debut at the top of the charts, or at least near the top, in the first week as viewers sample a new offering. It is arguably more important to keep notice of the staying power that The Four Seasons has to offer. Shows like Nobody Wants This, A Man On The Inside, and Running Point were all swiftly renewed. All comedies, all with shorter episode counts, and all featuring well-liked actors, their viewership numbers provide a useful comparison for how well this new title has to perform.

Our Take On The Four Seasons Returning

Could Netflix Keep Its Comedy Streak Going?

The Four Seasons, Carell’s latest collaboration with Netflix, is another starry effort by the streamer. Nobody Wants This, A Man On The Inside, and Running Point are other examples of what has worked with audiences. Led by Kristen Bell, Adam Brody, Kate Hudson, and Ted Danson, all three Netflix Originals also scored big with critics and received awards buzz. The ingredients are there for this latest outing to follow the trend, but a definitive answer won’t be given for possibly a few weeks, if not months, although the desire from the creators is there.
