The New Wilderness Characters Are Doomed

The New Wilderness Characters Are Doomed

Warning: There are spoilers ahead for Yellowjackets season 3, episode 6, “Thanksgiving (Canada).”

The Yellowjackets season 3, episode 7 trailer confirms that the new wilderness characters are doomed. After being stranded in the wilderness for over a year without any sign of other human life, the teenage survivors encounter two new characters, played by Nelson Franklin and Ashley Sutton, during Yellowjackets season 3, episode 6’s ending. Since the character played by Franklin has seen the severed head of Coach Ben Scott (Steven Krueger), and the public does not know what the Yellowjackets did to survive, his odds of surviving were already low.

As shared by Paramount+ (via TV Promos), the odds of Franklin and Sutton’s characters surviving are even lower now, with Shauna Shipman (Sophie Nélisse) insisting that they can get rescued without leaving any living witnesses. Lottie Matthews (Courtney Eaton) being covered in blood also does not bode well for the newcomers. In the present-day timeline, the adult Shauna (Melanie Lynskey) plans to confront the person who she thinks is the stalker and murderer. Check out the trailer below:

What This Means For Yellowjackets Season 3

The New Characters Will Not Save The Day

Beyond the footage from the next episode, the new characters are also doomed because the Yellowjackets timeline has established that the teens spend two winters in the wilderness before being rescued. This means that Franklin and Sutton’s characters are poised to die, and their arrival will not lead to the Yellowjackets returning home. What happens to the wilderness newcomers will not only affect the 1990s timeline, but will also affect the present day.

In the recording left for Shauna, it sounds like the teens are hunting their prey, which could be the new characters. This could mean the person who has been stalking Shauna and the person who killed adult Lottie (Simone Kessell) may be connected to the events on the tape. While the show’s two timelines have always been deeply interconnected, this is arguably the most connected that they have ever been during the show’s three seasons, which will make the last four episodes of this season even more intriguing to watch.

Our Take On The Yellowjackets Season 3, Episode 7 Trailer

The Yellowjackets Continue To Endanger Everyone Around Them

When the cabin burned down during Yellowjackets season 2’s ending, it felt like a significant change in the show’s status quo. The teens encountering other humans for the first time since the plane crash feels like a much larger change to the status quo, though. I am both excited and terrified to see what happens to the characters played by Franklin and Sutton after having the misfortune of finding a group of cannibalistic teens.

Yellowjackets season 3, episode 7 looks like it will continue to see others suffer and even lose their lives at the hands of the traumatized survivors.

The trailer also confirms that the Yellowjackets’ greatest danger in both timelines are themselves. They are the ones hunting the new characters in the wilderness and not the other way around. In the present, Shauna and the “Other” Taissa Turner (Tawny Cypress) currently feel more threatening than anyone else. Either Shauna or the “Other” Tai may even be the ones responsible for killing Lottie. Yellowjackets season 3, episode 7 looks like it will continue to see others suffer and even lose their lives at the hands of the traumatized survivors.
