Jon Bernthal will soon star in a Punisher project again in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. When all of Netflix’s The Defenders Saga projects were canceled, it seemed like that might have been it for some of the fan-favorite stars who brought characters like Daredevil, the Punisher, Jessica Jones, and more to life. However, Marvel Studios has given them a new life, and Daredevil: Born Again‘s cast includes Bernthal as Frank Castle. While speculated that he could star in his own series after his MCU return, there are other plans in store for the Punisher’s MCU journey.
Speaking with ComicBook.com via (@PoppedNews/Twitter), Marvel Studios’ Head of Streaming, Brad Winderbaum, revealed that Jon Bernthal is working on a Punisher Special Presentation for Disney+.
No more details were shared about what story the project could tell, only that the Punisher is near and dear to Bernthal. The character is set to play a vital role in Daredevil: Born Again‘s story, with Frank Castle reportedly appearing in multiple episodes of the first season of the upcoming MCU TV show. The new Daredevil series will have nine episodes in season 1, and season 2 starts filming on Friday.
