The White Lotus star Charlotte Le Bon reveals how Saxon’s actor, Patrick Schwarzenegger, reacted to the incestuous kiss between Saxon and Lochlan Ratliff (Sam Nivola). The kiss occurs when the two brothers are invited to the full moon party by Chelsea (Aimee Lou Wood) and Chloe (Le Bon) in The White Lotus season 3, episode 5. During the intoxicated after-party, Chloe, who bonded with Chelsea earlier in the season over their shared experience of dating older men, challenges the brothers to a kiss.
In an interview with Vulture, Le Bon discussed the kiss. While Schwarzenegger and Nivola play brothers in the series, they are not related in real life, so it made the scene easier to film. However, she shared that although filming the scene didn’t trouble Nivola, it was difficult for Schwarzenegger, whose “genuine reaction” was caught on camera and made it into the episode. The actor also shed some light on Chloe, who begins to show her true face in the episode. Check out Le Bon’s comments below:
Well obviously they’re not brothers by blood, so that made it easier. I think for Patrick it was really difficult. For Sam, he was kind of like, ‘It’s whatever, let’s just do it well one time and it will be over.’ You know? Because if you don’t do it well the first time, then you have to do it over and over again. But Patrick’s reaction in the episode is his genuine reaction. We all thought he was going to throw up. And Sam was like, “It’s fine, it’s just a kiss, calm down!”
I think Chloe is deeply, deeply bored. There’s a void inside of her. She fills that void with partying, sex and chaos. This kiss between the two brothers for her is just pure entertainment, which is obviously really evil when you think about it.

The White Lotus season 3 has been building up tension around Saxon and Lochlan’s bond. In the kissing scene, Saxon objects to Chloe’s proposal, while Lochlan seems unbothered by the proposal and initiates the kiss. With the first one being only a peck, Chloe suggests that they should kiss again, which they do. In the same interview, Le Bon revealed that there were two kisses in the script, which means the scene wasn’t improvised.

There have been several ambiguous scenes between Lochlan and Saxon before the shocking moment in The White Lotus season 3, episode 5. They first spark an incestuous vibe very early in the season when Lochlan observes Saxon watching pornography in the bathroom. The second instance is when Lochlan notices that Saxon sleeps naked in their shared room. Saxon’s sole purpose at the White Lotus is to have sex. However, the show takes a special interest in exploring Lochlan’s sexuality and everything that Saxon overlooks about his family.

The competition between them is subtle in the show, but Saxon never treats Lochlan as an equal, and it’s clear that Lochlan sees his elder brother as someone he wants to defeat. So far, things have been playful between Chloe, Chelsea, and the brothers, but it’s heading in an inevitable direction, with Chloe ready to cheat on Gary, and the brothers wanting to have sex. It doesn’t look like Saxon will be able to stomach what comes next, which makes the next episode of The White Lotus highly anticipated.
