Vegas Star As Male Lead

Vegas Star As Male Lead

Sheriff Country has cast its male lead, with a CSI: Vegas alum confirmed in the role. The spinoff to the hit CBS procedural Fire Country is due to premiere in the 2025-26 TV season and will focus on the character of Sheriff Mickey Fox (Morena Baccarin) as she investigates crime in the small town of Edgewater. The character first appeared in Fire Country season 2, episode 6, which served as a backdoor pilot for Sheriff Country. Over the past few weeks, the series has started to flesh out its cast, and another actor has now been added to the show.

Per Deadline, CSI: Vegas star Matt Lauria has been cast in what is said to be the male lead role of Boone. The character is described as Mickey’s tough and capable deputy and longtime partner, who has a very contrasting style of law enforcement to Mickey, causing some occasional tension between the two. Lauria joins Baccarin, as well as recently cast series regulars Christopher Gorham and Michele Weaver, and W. Earl Brown.

What This Means For Sheriff Country

The Series Is Starting To Take Shape

Finalizing a casting list is always essential for any movie or TV show, and Sheriff Country is starting to flesh out its cast of key characters. With the main roles now being filled, the show’s overall plot and tone are starting to come into focus, further allowing it to become its own property. It is unclear whether any of the core Fire Country cast members will appear in the show, but there could be some guest roles and recurring characters, as well as the opportunity for crossover episodes.

Baccarin has already appeared in two episodes of Fire Country and established key relationships with the characters there.

Lauria brings gravitas to a role that could prove to be engaging and interesting, and he will need to have a strong on-screen dynamic with Baccarin in his role. With regular appearances on shows like Friday Night Lights and CSI: Vegas, Lauria has a body of work that makes him a natural choice for a show like Sheriff Country. His character, Boone, could wind up being an integral part of Mickey’s story over the course of the series.

Our Take On Sheriff Country’s Casting

The Show Is Poised For An Exciting Debut

With Sheriff Country scheduled to premiere in the fall, the show seems to be setting up an exciting debut, with a strong cast and a well-developed main character. The series will look to attract the viewership of Fire Country while bringing new audiences to screens as well. Lauria’s casting sets up a key dynamic for the show, and more updates will likely follow in the coming weeks. As Sheriff Country takes shape, those who enjoy its predecessor can get a better idea of what to expect soon.
