Welcome To Derry Trailer Reveals Bill Skarsgård’s Pennywise Return In Stephen King Prequel Show

The first trailer for It: Welcome to Derry has been released, teasing what to expect from HBO’s upcoming TV show prequel to Stephen King’s It. The upcoming It: Welcome to Derry TV show serves as a prequel to 2017’s It, showcasing the deaths and disappearances Pennywise the Clown (Bill Skarsgård) was responsible for in 1962. Although not much is known about the storyline, it hints that the series will showcase events alluded to in the movies as the paranormal entity torments the children of Derry.

Now, HBO Max (via Max) has released a new trailer for It: Welcome to Derry, showcasing what to expect from the prequel series. The trailer begins with a little boy hitchhiking and asking to be driven to “anywhere but Derry.” The story’s 1962 timeline is established as a group of children begin investigating murders in town. They start to experience strange phenomena, like hearing voices in the pipes, as the new family also starts investigating what’s going on.

The children are later confronted by the police and told not to investigate the murders, while a death by drowning is teased. Supernatural events take place in a supermarket and movie theater, alongside the silhouette of Pennywise walking in the sewers. The end of the trailer reveals a Fall 2025 release window for the prequel show. Check out the full trailer below:
