A Complete Unknown is no longer completely unknown, because it is rocketing to box office success. With an budget of approximately $60 million, the movie follows Bob Dylan (Timothée Chalamet) through the earliest days of his career. It was directed by Logan‘s James Mangold and is based on Elijah Wald’s book, Dylan Goes Electric. Alongside Chalamet, Edward Norton (Pete Seeger), Elle Fanning (Sylvie Russo), Scoot McNairy (Woody Guthrie), and more major figures serve as stars.
According to a report by Deadline, the biopic is expected to become an instant hit in its opening weekend. It is projected to earn a 3-day total of $11.8 million and a 5-day total of $23.3 million. That would mark Searchlight’s greatest opener since Disney acquired 20th Century Fox in early 2019.
