Christopher Walken Reveals He Watches Severance On DVD Because He Doesn’t “Have The Equipment” For Streaming

Severance star Christopher Walken reveals that he watches the series on DVD. Walken is an important member of Severance‘s cast in his role as Burt G, an innie who is the head of Optics and Design, and has romantic feelings for Irving B (John Turturro). This relationship becomes complicated when Burt’s innie is retired and when Irving’s outie discovers that Burt has a partner in the outside world. Walken’s performance as Burt, and his chemistry with Turturro, are among the many elements that have contributed to Severance becoming a hit series.

While on Sirius XM’s Andy Cohen Live, Walken was asked if he has watched all the Severance episodes. Walken’s answer was “not all of them,” before elaborating that “I can’t. I don’t have the equipment.” When asked if he has an Apple TV+ subscription or any streaming subscriptions, Walken said that “I don’t have anything,” but clarified that Apple TV+ is “good enough to send me DVDs” so he can watch all Severance episodes. What This Means For Christopher Walken And Severance

Christopher Walken Views Severance In A Unique Way

Since Walken does not have Apple TV+, let alone any streaming subscriptions, it is good to know that he is still able to watch Severance through the streamer sending him DVDs of the episodes. Walken is among the many outstanding actors in the series, and it would be a shame if he was unable to see his work. After nearly three years, Severance season 1 became available to purchase on DVD in December 2024, only weeks before season 2’s debut.

Severance Season 2 Review: I’m Stunned The Brilliant Apple TV+ Series Actually Surpassed Its Excellent First Season

Severance season 2 continues to perfect the mystery box series formula with perfectly planted answers that raise more harrowing questions.

Walken’s comments suggest that Apple TV+ has been sending him DVDs long before this, though. Given that there is still interest in physical media, especially at a time when many streaming services suddenly remove movies and shows, it would be beneficial for Severance and other Apple TV+ shows to release DVDs. Those with subscriptions can buy the DVDs, but this can also make the show more accessible for individuals like Walken who do not have streaming subscriptions.

This Feels Perfectly On-Brand For Him

One of the most amusing parts of Walken’s comments is that, even though he has been sent DVDs of the episode, he still has not watched all the episodes. In some ways, this feels aligned with Severance‘s Burt, who bonds with Irving over being more old-fashioned than some of their younger colleagues. Whether in Severance or in another movie or series, Walken is an actor who has a calm, matter-of-fact delivery that makes his revelations about the DVDs all the better.
