Like Chainsaw Man? My Hero Academia’s Studio Has a New Anime On the Horizon For You

My Hero Academia’s animation studio Bones is releasing a brand-new anime in 2025, and it’s perfect for Chainsaw Man fans. Chainsaw Man is one of the biggest anime of the past few years thanks to its great animation and dark atmosphere, and while the Chainsaw Man movie is officially confirmed for a 2025 release, the lack of a firm release date still has fans desperately waiting for more.

It might be a long wait before there’s more Chainsaw Man, but an upcoming anime will be perfect for its biggest fans. Bones, the studio behind My Hero Academia, Soul Eater, and other major hit anime is releasing a new anime in 2025 called Gachiakuta, and the dark and punk aesthetic of Gachiakuta makes it a perfect series for anyone who’s a fan of Chainsaw Man. Gachiakuta’s most recent PV and key visual perfectly sell that, and while the two stories might be fairly different, it’s easy to see why liking one would make someone a fan of the other.

Bones Is Already Doing A Great Job Adapting Gachiakuta To Animation

Bones still hasn’t shown off much of Gachiakuta, but the new visual and PV still do a great job of showing why it’s perfect for Chainsaw Man fans. For the visual, this is the first clear look at Rudo’s appearance in the anime, and sure enough, the key visual for Gachiakuta shows that the anime is doing a great job of capturing the punk and graffiti aesthetic of Kei Urana’s artwork, even if it is a bit simplified compared to the manga. Gachiakuta’s artwork is one of the biggest parts of its appeal, and it’s great that the anime has seen fit to retain that.

The music is also a big part of why the PV works so well. The PV, with what little of the soundtrack was shown off, made it clear that the soundtrack will lean into the punk aesthetic with a dark and metal sound, and when combined with the visuals, Gachiakuta appears to have an overall direction that will do a perfect job of selling itself as a dark anime in every regard, just like Chainsaw Man’s anime did. Even without the Chainsaw Man comparisons, that’s still plenty exciting, and seeing the finished product will surely be even better.

Gachiakuta Is Perfect For Chainsaw Man Fans Because Of How Different It Is

How Similar Actually Are Gachiakuta & Chainsaw Man?

While Gachiakuta has a lot of overlap with Chainsaw Man on a surface level, the two are fairly different. They’re both fairly dark shonen stories with a cinematic style to their artwork and paneling, but not only does Gachiakuta’s writing and overall tone lean more toward traditional shonen than Chainsaw Man’s, but Gachiakuta’s larger focus on character writing, worldbuilding, and mystery writing give it a completely different appeal from Chainsaw Man, so fans of Chainsaw Man shouldn’t go into Gachiakuta thinking it will be more of the same.

Those differences are all why Gachiakuta is perfect for Chainsaw Man fans, however. As great as it would be to have more Chainsaw Man, a story being too similar to it would detract from its own appeal, so Gachiakuta will be great for Chainsaw Man fans because it provides an entirely new experience while still hitting a lot of the same appeal. Whatever the case, Gachiakuta will surely be one of the best anime from the studio behind My Hero Academia in years, and it’s all but certain to be one of the best anime of 2025, by far.
