Invincible Season 3 Adds 9 New Actors, Including Marvel & DC Stars

Invincible adds nine new actors to its season 3 cast. The animated Prime Video show already has an impressive cast that has included Steven Yeun, Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, and Walton Goggins since season 1. Season 2’s cast only became increasingly impressive with the additions of Sterling K. Brown, Daveed Diggs, Peter Cullen, Rhea Seehorn, and Ella Purnell. After Invincible season 2’s game-changing ending, the cast was poised to expand once again.

Prime Video has now announced nine new actors joining season 2, including Aaron Paul, Simu Liu, Jonathan Banks, Kate Mara, Xolo Maridueña, John DiMaggio, Tzi Ma, Doug Bradley, and Christian Convery. Details about Banks and Bradley’s characters are being kept under wraps for now. The roles and descriptions of the characters played by the seven other new actors have been revealed. Check out the breakdown of the new characters below:

What This Means For Invincible

Invincible’s Cast Gets Even Better In Season 3

Invincible season 3’s cast features multiple actors from previous Marvel and DC movies, which is fitting given how the Prime Video show subverts the expectations of well-known superheroes and supervillains. Liu plays Shang-Chi in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Mara is Sue Storm in 2015’s Fantastic Four, and Maridueña portrays DC’s Blue Beetle. Both Liu and Mara will play more villainous characters in Invincible than they do in Marvel, while Maridueña will not be straying quite as far from his DC superhero roots.

The first three episodes of Invincible will debut on February 6.

As for Oliver Grayson, he is poised to have a much larger role now that he is older and voiced by Sweet Tooth‘s Christian Convery. In terms of the villains, the descriptions indicate that Powerplex and Mr. Liu will be two of the most prominent villains in season 3. Powerplex’s energy absorption abilities and Mr. Liu’s influence in the criminal world will make them formidable villains for Mark and the Guardians of the Globe. Meanwhile, DiMaggio’s the Elephant will be more of a lackluster villain who is included for more comedic purposes.

Our Take On Invincible’s New Cast Members

The Possibility Of A Breaking Bad Reunion Is Particularly Exciting

Invincible season 3 is even more exciting now that its cast includes actors from Marvel, DC, and Breaking Bad. Paul is best known for playing Jesse Pinkman, while Banks is best known for playing Mike Ehrmantraut. Banks’ character is likely being kept under wraps to avoid spoiling major plot twists that will be worth the wait. Since Banks’ character is not being revealed yet, it is too soon to know if he will interact with Powerplex, but if this does happen, Invincible can deliver a satisfying Breaking Bad reunion.
