The Witcher’s Cahir Actor Reflects On Filming Season 4 With Liam Hemsworth

As Cahir steps into the spotlight as one of The Witcher season 4’s key characters, Eamon Farren opened up about taking up a more expansive role while working alongside new Geralt actor Liam Hemsworth. The dark Netflix fantasy series adapts Andrzej Sapkowski novels that explore the journeys of a lone monster hunter traversing the world of The Continent. Cahir debuted in The Witcher season 1 as a commander in the Nilfgaardian Army who is initially tasked with tracking Ciri (Freya Allen), only to embark on a quest for redemption.

As Farren attends the Sundance Film Festival to promote his latest feature, Jimpa, the actor sat down with Screen Rant to tease what awaits Cahir in The Witcher season 4 after his ambiguous season 3 ending, as well as his work alongside Hemsworth. With his contributions to the upcoming season having been filmed, Farren jokes that he was glad to see the Australian presence on set, stating that he had a pleasant experience on set. Furthermore, the actor was eager to return to the action of the series once more, as it provided him with an experience unlike anything else.

Screen Rant: I also love another project you’re in, which is The Witcher. I believe Cahir is back for season 4. Can you tease anything? You’ve got first dibs on Liam Hemsworth as Geralt. What’s that been like?

Farren: Yeah, The Witcher has been a ride. Cahir’s back for season 4, and we’ve shot that. Of course, Liam turns up, and it’s great to have another Australian on board. We’re slowly taking over The Witcher set, and I really like that. It’s been a bunch of fun.

I love playing Cahir because he allows me to be super physical and aggressive and express myself in ways that are completely opposite to something like Richard in [Sundance selection] Jimpa. That’s the joy of this job; being able to plumb the depths of yourself and give permission to play.

The Witcher set is every little boy’s dream. When I used to play fight and do flips in the backyard, this was what I dreamed of doing, so I really enjoyed it.

What Farren’s Tease Means For The Witcher Season 4

Cahir Is A Changed Man, Leading To New Alliances

By the end of The Witcher season 3, Cahir is a changed man when compared to the terrifying figure who raided Cintra and pursued Ciri. However, by the time he came face-to-face with her, his faith had been shaken, allegiances had been shifted, and he was on a path to redemption, offering Ciri the chance to claim his life. While Ciri wouldn’t kill him, he would instead take on the Scoia’tael in hopes of giving Ciri and Geralt (Then played by Henry Cavill) a chance to escape. However, Cahir hasn’t been seen since his stand against the Scoia’tael.

Cahir is one of The Witcher’s most developed characters, having grown from a loyal and deadly foe to a surprising ally hoping to redeem himself for the horrors he committed. And while all eyes may be on Hemsworth as he proves himself as a worthy successor to Cavill in season 4, many may be looking forward to seeing how Cahir fits into his new place in the world, and as an ally to Geralt.
