Who would have thought that the man who made ‘Dev D’ and ‘Gangs Of Wasseypur’ would be so emotional at his daughter’s wedding that he would cry for 10 days non-stop? Well, that’s Anurag Kashyap, who has now confessed going through a big catharsis when his daughter got married. He was going through a bundle of emotions which he just couldn’t control. For those not in the know, Anurag’s daughter Aaliyah Kashyap tied the knot with long-term boyfriend Shane Gregoire on December 11. The wedding festivities took place in Mumbai.
Kashyap opened up about the wedding during a chat with The Hollywood Reporter India, and said, “I had the same feeling when my daughter was born. I don’t know why I cried so much, but I cried. Same thing at her wedding. I think I cried non-stop for 10 days. I don’t know why, and in front of random people.”
He further revealed that he was so overwhelmed that he wanted to just leave the wedding and go but his friend, film-maker Vikramadtiya Motwane stopped him. “At my daughter’s wedding, after the varmala and havan was done, I couldn’t handle it. I was so overwhelmed and emotional, I wanted to leave the wedding, even before the reception began. And I was going out but he stopped me. He took me out, we went for a long walk and then we came back. Suddenly, I stopped drinking, I stopped crying, everything just stopped. I think this was a big catharsis for me, which went on for 10 days.”
Meanwhile, Anurag has recently announced that soon he’s going to move from Mumbai and go to the South. He had criticised the Hindi film industry and said that he’s just done with it.
