Once Upon A Time Star Is Open To Revival On One Condition

Jennifer Morrison is yet another cast member open to a Once Upon A Time revival. The beloved ABC fantasy series aired from 2011 to 2018 and followed the residents of Storybrooke, a town populated by fairy-tale characters living under a curse. The show turned classic fairy tale and Disney mythology into a sprawling adventure, featuring an ensemble cast that included Ginnifer Goodwin, Lana Parrilla, Josh Dallas, and Robert Carlyle. Once Upon A Time ended with its seventh season after reinventing its premise with a soft reboot.

In an interview with the New York Post, Morrison revealed that she believes the fairy tale series deserves a reboot with a fresh cast. The actor portrayed Emma Swan, the protagonist of Once Upon a Time and the daughter of Snow White (Ginnifer Goodwin) and Prince Charming (Josh Dallas). “I think there is definitely a place in the world for it,” she said of a potential revival, echoing the opinion of fellow cast members Colin O’Donoghue and Goodwin, “but I think it would just need to be a new group of characters.” Check out her other comments below:

I think that they should reboot it, probably with new people. Eddy [Edward] Kitsis and Adam Horowitz were showrunners and creators of that. They had such a brilliant concept of this idea of the crossover of all the fairy-tale characters and the curse and all these things. And I think that they are filled with endless stories that fill in that kind of vibe.

I think that they took this cast as far as you could take it, in terms of kind of squeezing all the story out of that main cast. I would be in full support of seeing a reboot with a whole new group of people or a new group of fairy-tale characters who are in their own mess, in their own situation, with their own savior.

Storybrooke Might Be Ready For A New Chapter

While Morrison has no interest in reprising her role as Emma Swan, she remains open to being involved in a Once Upon A Time reboot in a different capacity. “If they want me to come direct it, I’d be happy to,” she admitted. Morrison has been making a name for herself as a director, working on shows like Euphoria, Dr. Death, Grease: Rise of the Pink Ladies, and is set to direct an episode in the upcoming season of Showtime’s thriller series Yellowjackets.

Ginnifer Goodwin, who played Snow White, previously said that she would be available if the show returned during an interview with People. Colin O’Donoghue, who played Captain Hook/Killian Jones, also expressed he thought the show could “definitely go again” (via ScreenRant).

A Once Upon A Time reboot has the potential to breathe new life into Storybrooke, particularly with a new cast. The show’s greatest strength was always its creative reimaginings of fairy tale lore, and a revival could expand on that with new characters and settings introduced after the original series ended in 2018. As Disney continues to build upon its cinematic world with films like Turning Red, Encanto, and Luca, there’s an opportunity to bring in newer stories while maintaining the charm that made Once Upon A Time special—and perhaps with Jennifer Morrison behind the camera this time.
