Paradise star Sterling K. Brown previews season 2’s story ahead of the season finale. Since debuting on Hulu in late January, the new show from This Is Us creator Dan Fogelman has been filled with twists. It began as a fairly straightforward mystery of who killed President Bradford (James Marsden), morphing into a sci-fi dystopia and only getting bumpier from there. Paradise season 2 was confirmed well before the season 1 finale, meaning the twists are likely just beginning.
In an interview with TV Insider, Brown recaps the genre-mashing thriller and offers a preview of where the story could go next. Brown, also an executive producer on the series, mentions that the Hulu hit’s next chapter will explore what happened to the rest of the world amid all the chaos:
“We know what the billionaires and the people of power did. They built a city, right? Then we found out in [Episode 4] that there’s still breathable air. You see in [Episode 7] that the nukes did not go off, that there’s still life as we know it but maybe very different because the natural disaster still transpired. So I think in Season 2, the idea is to explore what happened to the rest of the world, what does that look like?”
The Biggest Twist Has Yet To Be Revealed
The thriller series shows a lot of storytelling ambition in season 1, with almost every Paradise ending peeling back layers that viewers might not have considered. It’s not a surprising move from the creator of This Is Us, which was built around one massive twist for just about every season and then several smaller ones that come as a surprise. The difference with Paradise, other than its genre, is the pacing.

Paradise: Who Is Working With Xavier’s Rebellion Explained
Paradise season 1, episode 6 follows Xavier Collins as he leads a rebellion against Sinatra, but who else is involved in his daring fight?
Another show might have devoted an entire season to exposing Sinatra’s villainous nature, especially considering the caliber of performer that Julianne Nicholson is. Paradise does it in a single episode. While it’s undeniable that the show’s return may need to have a wider scope of storytelling beyond just the U.S. and just these relatively few people, the finale is sure to have bigger twists.
Our Take On Paradise’s Twists
The Show Can’t Afford To Slow Down
It might be nice if Paradise could slow down and take its time with a single twist, the way This Is Us used to. But if it sticks to an eight-episode run, it is better off sticking to a breakneck speed that wastes little time before taking off in the direction of the next major revelation. That has worked for the Hulu series so far, helping to turn it into a fast success for Hulu. And at a time when streaming shows are often accused of sluggish stories and padding, the quickness of this new thriller is an asset.
