Ben Affleck and Charlie Cox’s respective iterations of Daredevil travel across the Marvel multiverse for an unexpected Marvel Cinematic Universe crossover. As Marvel Studios is getting closer to finishing The Multiverse Saga, the MCU has been dealing with various variants of some of the beloved heroes and villains in the franchise. With Daredevil: Born Again now airing on Disney+, there is one Daredevil variant that the MCU has yet to reexplore, which is Affleck’s incarnation from the 2003 film.
While it has been more than two decades since Affleck portrayed the role, @esheffects shared new MCU art where they pitched a multiverse crossover with him and Cox’s respective versions of Daredevil coming together for a team-up. The Daredevil multiverse art shows what Affleck’s Matt Murdock would potentially look like several years later. Check it out below:
What The Ben Affleck & Charlie Cox’s Daredevil Team-Up Art Mean For The MCU
Cox’s Daredevil legacy is what has brought the current popularity to the character with the mainstream audience, where Affleck’s 2003 film was still part of the early 2000s era when superhero movies were not fully accepted yet in Hollywood, as studios were not entirely ready to commit to the genre. While the theatrical cut may have received mixed reviews, the director’s cut of Daredevil gave Affleck’s hero a cult-following. That alone explains why fans to this day are imagining and wanting Affleck to come back at least one more time as his version of Daredevil.
Given how Deadpool & Wolverine was able to bring back Jennifer Garner’s Elektra, who is from the same universe as Affleck’s Daredevil, there is no reason why Marvel Studios couldn’t stage a return for him in The Multiverse Saga. In fact, there were initially plans to have Affleck’s Daredevil in Deadpool & Wolverine, as concept art showed early ideas of what his return could have been in the film. But since it didn’t happen, it would be way more intriguing if Affleck showed up in Phase 6 alongside Cox’s Daredevil.
Our Take On Ben Affleck & Charlie Cox’s Daredevil Team-Up Art
While Daredevil: Born Again may not be suited for a multiverse adventure, given its grounded nature, the artwork makes a compelling case for why other MCU projects should bring Cox and Affleck’s versions of the character together. With projects like Avengers: Doomsday and Avengers: Secret Wars coming up, these releases could mark a more suitable point for Affleck’s version of Daredevil to cross over to Earth-616 and share the screen with Cox. But for now, time will tell if Affleck will ever return as his iteration of Daredevil in any capacity.
