The Malcolm in the Middle revival has received a major filming update from the show’s leading star Frankie Muniz. Muniz played the titular middle child, heading up the Malcolm in the Middle cast, alongside Jane Kaczmarek and Bryan Cranston. The show covered the daily minutiae of the lives of a working-class family, and received widespread critical acclaim, being regarded as one of the greatest sitcoms of all time. Malcolm in the Middle debuted on Fox in January 2000 and concluded in May 2006, following six seasons and 151 episodes.
In a post on his X account, Muniz provided an update on the show’s filming and revealed that the upcoming revival series will begin filming soon. He tweeted that he had just finished watching the first episode of Malcolm in the Middle and that he had 151 to catch up on before “we start filming again in a few days.“ He then stated that he was looking forward to getting back together with his old family. What This Means For The Malcolm In The Middle Revival
The Show Could Air On Disney+ In 2026
If filming is set to begin shortly, there is a good chance that the show will be ready to air sometime in early 2026 at the latest, especially as there are only set to be four episodes. The Malcolm in the Middle revival series is set to pick up after the events of the original series instead of rebooting the show, and it has been confirmed that Muniz, Kaczmarek, and Cranston will return to reprise their roles. Initially planned as a two-hour movie, the series will instead have four 30-minute episodes that will air on Disney+.
