Percy Jackson Actor Addresses Whether Hades Will Appear In Season 2

Percy Jackson and the Olympians actor Jay Duplass has addressed whether Hades will appear in season 2 of the Disney+ adaptation after his important role in season 1. Duplass appeared at the end of Percy Jackson season 1 after Percy (Walker Scobell) and Grover (Aryan Simhadri) made it to his domain in the Underworld in search of Zeus’ Master Bolt. He also has Percy’s mother, Sally (Virginia Kull) trapped, trading the God’s Helm of Darkness for her safe return. His small role in the story also sets the stage for bigger plans surrounding the show going forward.

However, while speaking with People, Duplass confirmed he will not be reprising his role as Hades in Percy Jackson season 2. Despite not coming back as the major Greek God in the upcoming installment, he did confirm there is “potential” for him to come back to the role in season 3. Check out what Duplass had to say below:

I am not in season two…there have been some potential droppings about season 3.

What Hades Not Coming Back Means For Percy Jackson Season 2

This Lines Up With His Appearances In The Books

Hades’ lack of appearance in Percy Jackson season 2 makes sense, as he doesn’t have a major role to play in the events of the second book, The Sea of Monsters. In the upcoming installment, Percy and his friends are seeking the Golden Fleece, the only object that can cure Thalia’s poisoned tree and stop a Titan attack at Camp Half-Blood. This quest sees them interact with new, dangerous creatures from Greek mythology, but does not include the God of the Underworld. Instead, the story focuses on introducing new threats.

Disney+’s Most-Watched 2024 Show Is Great News With Season 2 Releasing In 2025 & 5 More Books To Adapt

Disney+ recently revealed its most watched TV show of 2024, and this statistic is good news for the series, which has plenty more story to tell.

While Duplass won’t be joining the cast of Percy Jackson in the forthcoming episodes, The Lightning Thief isn’t the only book Hades appears in. With season 3 already confirmed, the ruler of the Underworld could easily appear in The Titan’s Curse adaptation, since the story revolves around an important element of his character not yet seen in the show. As for later appearances, his importance in the overarching story will become more prominent as the show continues, and as more adventures from Rick Riordan’s novel series get adapted.

Our Take On Hades Not Coming Back In Percy Jackson Season 2

It Makes Room For Everything Else The Series Will Be Doing

While it’s slightly disappointing Duplass won’t be coming back as Hades for Percy Jackson and the Olympians season 2, it also aligns with the books’ story. Since he’ll have a part to play in the story later on, his potential appearance in season 3 makes sense, too, and can act as the perfect way to make him part of the larger tale once again. For now, though, it’s unclear how he’ll be making his next appearance, and what it will mean for Percy and his friends when he does return.
