The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel Creator Reflects On Ending Prime Video Show 2 Years Later


Two years after The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel series finale, showrunner Amy Sherman-Palladino is still not convinced it was the right time to say goodbye. The show premiered in 2017 and quickly became one of Prime Video’s flagship originals. The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel follows the rise of Midge Maisel (Rachel Brosnahan), a 1950s housewife who her talent for stand-up comedy. Created by Sherman-Palladino alongside her husband Dan Palladino, the series was a success throughout its five-season run, winning Emmys from acting to costume design, ending its run in 2023 with a finale that fast-forwarded through decades of Midge’s life and career.

In a new interview with Variety, promoting their new Prime Video series, Étoile, Sherman-Palladino and Palladino were asked how they felt about the series’ ending two years later.
