Michael B. Jordan To Produce New York Times Best Selling Horror Novel From Award Winning Writer


Michael B. Jordan is producing a film adaptation of a New York Times-bestselling horror novel from an award-winning author. Jordan is an actor best known for his collaborations with writer-director Ryan Coogler – starring as shooting victim Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station, the titular boxer in the Rocky spinoff Creed, Erik Killmonger in the MCU’s Black Panther, and twin brothers in the upcoming horror movie Sinners. In addition to acting, Jordan also produces projects, most of which he also stars in, through his company, Outlier Society Productions.

Per Deadline, Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society production banner has optioned The House of Last Resort by Christopher Golden for feature development. Golden, who co-wrote 2024’s Hellboy: The Crooked Man, will also adapt his own book for the screen. Along with Jordan, Elizabeth Raposo will serve as a producer for Outlier Society, working alongside Golden and Pete Donaldson of Donaldson Media.

Christopher Golden is a winner of both the Bram Stoker and Shirley Jackson Awards.

What Is The Book About?

Published in January 2024, The House of Last Resort tells the story of a young American couple who move to a hillside town in Sicily, where the local mayor is offering abandoned homes to foreigners for just one Euro in an attempt to revive the struggling village – a strategy mirroring a real-world trend seen in parts of Italy and beyond. However, the couple soon discovers that their new home is hiding eerie secrets, such as sealed catacombs below, strange whispers in the walls, and a sinister past.

With Outlier Society producing, there is a strong possibility that Jordan will also star in The House of Last Resort movie. However, he has also produced Raising Dion, David Makes Man, and 61st Street – which he didn’t end up starring in. Outlier Society is also producing The Thomas Crown Affair remake, which Jordan is set to star in and direct.

This is an exciting time in Michael B. Jordan’s career for The House of Last Resort movie. He’s coming off his directorial debut, Creed III, which was a big box office success, and he stars in another high-concept horror movie, Sinners, reuniting him with Ryan Coogler. Jordan is directing and starring in The Thomas Crown Affair, which might limit his availability for The House of Last Resort movie. However, if he makes time in his schedule, directing and starring should both be an option.

Sinners releases in theaters on April 18.
