Wednesday season 2 will reunite Tim Burton with an Edward Scissorhands star. Burton, who directed the beloved 1990 film Edward Scisshorhands, is an executive producer and director for the hit Netflix show. In season 1, Burton directed four of the eight episodes, and he will be directing the same number of episodes in the upcoming season. Along with Jenna Ortega and other key cast members reprising their roles, Wednesday season 2’s cast has added Steve Buscemi, Lady Gaga, Christopher Lloyd, Thandiwe Newton, and Billie Piper.
As per Variety, Anthony Michael has now joined Wednesday season 2 in an undisclosed role. In Edward Scissorhands, Hall played Jim, the arrogant boyfriend of Kim Boggs (Winona Ryder), and he proved to be the antagonist of the film. With details about Hall’s Wednesday character being kept under wraps, it is unconfirmed when he will make his debut in season 2, and if it will be in one of the four episodes that Burton is directing.

Anthony Michael Hall Becomes Another Frequent Tim Burton Collaborator
Hall is the latest addition to Wednesday‘s increasingly star-studded cast and continues a tradition of Burton working with the same actors on multiple projects. With Hall’s casting only being reported now, and his mysterious character not being featured thus far in the season 2 marketing, it is unlikely that he will be playing a main character. He will probably have more of a supporting role as the cast of characters at Nevermore Academy and the rest of the show’s supernatural world continues to expand.

Burton has a penchant for reuniting with actors, including Hall’s Edward Scissorhands co-star, Ryder, who famously played Lydia Deetz in Beetlejuice and Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, and she voiced Elsa Van Helsing in Burton’s 2012 animated movie Frankenweenie. Other frequent Burton collaborators include Michael Keaton, who has been in five of the filmmaker’s movies, Johnny Depp, who has been in eight of his films, and Ortega, who was in Beetlejuice Beetlejuice after Wednesday season 1. He Should Be In One Of The Tim Burton-Directed Episodes
Given their history of working together, I hope that Hall will be featured in one of the Burton-directed Wednesday season 2 episodes. Hall proved in Edward Scissorhands that he could play a great villain, especially in a story where humans can be the real monsters, and this means he could make a great Wednesday villain as well. On the other hand, it would be intriguing to see Hall play a more heroic character who is nothing like Jim, which will allow him and Burton to explore new territory together.
