Prithviraj Sukumaran is gearing up for the release of his next directorial, ‘L2: Empuraan‘ starring the legendary Mohanlal. Apart from being a director, Prithviraj will also be seen in the movie. Interestingly, this biggie is clashing with Salman Khan’s Sikandar. It’s not an unknown fact that a Salman film on Eid is just a phenomenon. However, this time around, there’s this clash between these two big films. While ‘Sikandar’ is releasing on March 30, ‘L2: Empuraan’ is set for release on March 27.
At a recent promotional event, Prithviraj has opened up on the clash of these two movies. He said, “Salman Khan is one of the biggest stars in the country, and there is no competition between the two movies. I hope it becomes a blockbuster. I will have no complaints if you watch L2: Empuraan at 11 a.m. and Sikandar at 1 p.m.”
As far as the advances are concerned, 40,000 tickets of Sikandar are already sold and the advance bookings look promising. The film has already earned more than Rs 5 crore for the opening day through advances so far.
The distributors are confident that the movie will have an opening weekend of minimum Rs 50 crore. Meanwhile, Salman Khan made a bold statement at the trailer launch of Sikandar as he said, “Eid, Diwali, New Year, festive, non-festive, it’s the love of the people and picture achi ho ya buri ho, wo sau [Rs 100 crore] toh paar kara hi dete hain (laughs).” Salman corrected himself and said Rs 200 crore, “Rs 100 crore bohot pehle ki baat hain (Rs 100 crore is a thing of the past).”
